Atlantic Hockey Tournament
The Eighth Annual Atlantic Hockey Association Championship
Tournament format will be the same for the second year in a row, as
the tournament will be contested on three straight weekends.
The First Round will be four one-game series with the bottom four
teams in each scheduling region playing a one-game First Round
contest on Saturday, March 5. The #3 and #4 seeds will host
the #6 and #5 seeds, respectively with the winners advancing to the
Quarterfinals. The following weekend will be a best
two-out-of-three quarterfinal series with the top four seeds
hosting from the regular season standings. The Semifinals
will be on Friday, March 18 with the Championship contest being
played on Saturday, March 19. Last season, RIT defeated
Sacred Heart in the Championship contest, 6-1 to earn its
first-ever Atlantic Hockey Tournament crown. The Tigers then
made an impressive run in the NCAA Tournament, defeating Denver,
2-1 in the East Regional Semifinals, then dropping New Hampshire,
6-2 in the East Regional Final. RIT then became the
first-ever Atlantic Hockey institution to participate in the Frozen
Four, where the Tigers run came to an end at the hands of
Wisconsin.
The eventual Atlantic Hockey champion will receive an automatic
bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Tickets for the First and Quarterfinal rounds may be purchased
