LAKERS LEAD LEAGUE

Mercyhurst posted a two-game series sweep of Connecticut last weekend as the Lakers held on to first place in the Atlantic Hockey League standings. The Lakers currently lead second place Sacred Heart by three points.

Senior forward Dave Borelli contributed five points to lead the Lakers to 6-3 win on Jan. 13 and a 4-3 overtime victory on Jan. 14, and earned the conference's Player of the Week award for his efforts. He netted two goals in Friday's contest, and then scored his third of the weekend to tie the game at 2-2 on Saturday. Borelli then assists on Mercyhurst's third and fourth scores of the game, which included the game-winner.

The native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, leads the Lakers with 14 goals and ranks second on the team with 29 points. He is second in the league with 0.78 goals per game.
