AIR FORCE'S EHN NAMED ATLANTIC HOCKEY PLAYER OF
THE YEAR
(Sacred Heart's O'Brien Earns Third Straight First Team Selection)
HAVERHILL, Mass. -- Air Force junior, Eric Ehn was named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year announced to day at the Fourth Annual Atlantic Hockey Banquet at the RIT Inn and Conference Center in Rochester, N.Y. Ehn set the scoring mark in the league this year as he netted 16 goals and added 29 assists for 45 points. Ehn also leads the nation in points with 62 on the year.
Joining Ehn on the First Team All-Conference is senior Pierre-Luc O'Brien from Sacred Heart. O'Brien is the first player in league history to be a three-time First Team All-Conference selection. Senior Jason Smith and junior Scott Marchesi, both of Sacred Heart were also named First Team performers, while Holy Cross seniors, James Sixsmith and Jon Landry were also selected to the First Team.
On the AHA Second Team frontline are seniors Andrew Ramsey of Air Force and Matt Scherer of Connecticut, with junior Simon Lambert of R.I.T. joining them up front. Junior Brent Patry of R.I.T. and sophomore Tim Manthey of Army are the blueliners, while sophomore Josh Kassel of Army is the netminder.
The Third Team All-Conference forwards are junior Luke Flicek of Army, junior Jereme Tendler of American International and sophomore Jeff Gumaer of Bentley. The defensive duo are sophomore Sean Erickson of Connecticut and freshman Al Mazur of R.I.T. In net on the Third Team is freshman Louis Menard of R.I.T.
The Atlantic Hockey Association named an All-Rookie Team with Owen Meyer of Army, Josh Hiedinger of Canisius and Anton Kharin of R.I.T. plays up front, with Cullen Eddy of Mercyhurst and Mazur playing on the blueline. Menard also mans the net for the All-Rookie squad.
In addition to Ehn being named Player of the Year, he garners the Regular Season Scoring Crown. Menard claims the Regular Season Goaltending Award, as well. Mazur was named Rookie of the Year, while Army Head Coach Brian Riley was chosen Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Trevor Stewart of Connecticut claims the Best Defensive Forward, while the Best Defensemen goes to Landry. Sixsmith was honored with the Individual Sportsmanship Award with Army laying claim to the Team Sportsmanship Award.
