Canisius Hockey to be Broadcast on GoGriffs.com

All 36 Canisius College hockey games will be broadcast live on the home of Canisius College athletics - GoGriffs.com - during the 2006-07 season.

"The chance to have all of our hockey games broadcast over the Internet is a great addition to our program," Canisius coach Dave Smith said. "I'm excited Golden Griffin fans from the Western New York area, as well as around the country, will be able to follow the team throughout our entire season."

Providing the play-by-play of Golden Griffin hockey will be Steve Warzala who works on sports radio station WGR 550 as a pre-game analyst for Buffalo Bills games. Warzala was the lead sports broadcaster and sports director at WMCE, where he broadcasted men and women's hockey, football, baseball and basketball games for Mercyhurst College.

The broadcasts will begin 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time with a pre-game show featuring interviews and a preview of the contest. Intermissions will feature interviews with various members of the Canisius College hockey program, and the post-game show will include an interview with Smith.

The Griffs start the season Saturday, Oct. 7, when they host the Colonials of Robert Morris at 4 p.m.
