last weekend against Mercyhurst. He is closing in on most saves for
a goalie in the nation as he has now made 691 saves on the year,
which is still second in nation but only 14 behind national leader
Jeff Lerg of Michigan State. Lerg has made his 705 saves in 26
games, while Erickson has only needed 23 games to make his 691.

stages of the third period but gave up a goal with one second on
the clock to Big Green forward Jon Grecu, who sent the game into
overtime and an eventual 3-3 tie. Freshman goalie Dan Ramirez
played what was unquestionably the best game of his young
collegiate career. Ramirez totaled 36 saves and at no point was he
more clutch than down the stretch of the contest. Freshman Tom Mele
and sophomore Chris Campanale each tallied two points off of a goal
and an assist. With the tie AIC is now 0-1-2 against ECAC teams.
The Yellow Jackets tied then nationally ranked RPI 1-1 and dropped
a closely played 3-2 contest to USA Today/USA Magazine No. 16
Quinnipiac. For AIC it was their final contest played out of
conference as their final ten match-ups are all opponents who
reside in the AHA. The Jackets will hit the road to take on RIT
next weekend.
Army
The Black Knights improved to 9-12-3 overall and 9-7-2 in league
play with a weekend sweep of #20 Air Force. Army won both games by

... Goalie Josh Kassel allowed just two goals over the weekend and

only players with a multiple-point weekend and had huge parts in
the wins. Rowe scored the game-winning goal with 1:47 left in

... Since Air Force joined Atlantic Hockey in 2006, Air Force and
Bentley have split all three series the teams have played.
Canisius
The Griffs concluded non-conference play with a 4-0 loss at
Merrimack. Canisius finished its non-conference schedule with a
1-5-1 record. Freshman Taylor Anderson started his first collegiate
game in goal for the Griffs. The rookie recorded 19 saves. Canisius
killed Merrimack's first power play, the team's 37th-consecutive
kill. The run of penalty kills, which ended on the Warrior's second
power play, set a new school record, breaking the previous mark of
36 set in 2005. In their last 12 games, Canisius has allowed only
three extra-man scores in its last 59 penalty kills (94.9 percent
penalty kill), while scoring three short-handed goals. Freshman
Vincent Scarsella was held without a point against the Warriors,
ending a career-best five-game point streak. Scarsella is tied for
first in Atlantic Hockey among freshmen with 19 points. The Griffs
return to Atlantic Hockey play next weekend with a pair of home
games against Sacred Heart.
Connecticut
The Huskies season best four game unbeaten streak is currently the
top unbeaten streak in the AHA. Only seven schools in all of
Division I hockey currently have a longer streak. Erickson
continues to rise on the Husky career and single season lists. With
a goals against average of 2.83 for his career, it is by far the
best for a Husky all-time. Second place goes to Marc Senerchia with
a career GAA of 3.00. His 1239 saves are fourth all-time for the
division I era, despite playing in only 34 career games. The single
season saves record (which is held by a Division I era goalie) is
also in reach. Scott Tomes made 942 saves in 2003-04. The youth of
the team is very evident at this point. With injuries being a
factor the team that Connecticut fielded this weekend featured only
four upperclassmen in senior Charles Solberg and juniors Nick
Schneider, B.J. Bayers, and Jordan Behler (who is actually only
playing his first career season of college hockey, he has junior
eligibility however). Everyone else that played this weekend was
either a freshman or sophomore. Olson had his third two goal game
of the season on Friday. He is on pace to beat Chris Myhro's
division I era freshman record of 13 goals on the season. Army is
next for the Huskies and is a key series as the Black Knights are
four points ahead of UConn. The two teams have had vastly different
games against each other during their first two meetings as Army
won the first game 4-1 on October 27, while UConn returned the
favor with a 4-1 win in their holiday tournament on December 29.
Both these games are in West Point, and it will be the last time
this season that the Huskies play both games of a two-game weekend
series in the same location. The last four weekend series of the
season will feature home-and-home matchups.
Holy Cross
Holy Cross went 3-8 on the power play in the 4-2 win over Sacred
Heart on Saturday. The Crusaders 24.0 power play percentage is
ranked third in the nation. The Crusaders are 31-129 on power play
opportunities, including a 3-5 performance at Providence (10/20), a
3-7 performance at Mercyhurst (10/26), a 3-8 performance against
Army (11/4), a 3-8 performance against Connecticut (12/1), a 4-5
performance against Bentley (1/12) and a 1-2 performance against
AIC (1/15). Sophomore forwards Ryan Driscoll and Brodie Sheahan
each have six power play goals on the season which are tied for
16th in the nation. Freshman forward Everett Sheen's 12 goals lead
the team and are tied for fourth in the nation by rookies. He has
scored 11 goals in the last 15 games. Senior Dale Reinhardt had two
goals and two assists on the weekend. He currently has 44 goals and
71 assists for 115 points in 127 career games. Reinhardt is ranked
seventh on the all-time Holy Cross Division I assists list, while
he is eighth in points and goals. Senior captain and defenseman
Matt Burke scored his second goal of the season in the 4-2 victory
over Sacred Heart on Saturday. For his career he has 14 goals and
45 assists for 59 points in 127 career games. Burke has two goals
and six assists so far this season. Holy Cross ranks first in the
nation in fewest penalty minutes per game with 9.6. The Crusaders
play two games in Worcester with Mercyhurst this upcoming weekend
before playing four straight games on the road with two at Army
(2/8-9) and at Canisius (2/16-17).
Mercyhurst
Sophomores Cullen Eddy (D) and Chris Risi (F) scored their first
goals of the season in Friday's 3-3 tie. Meanwhile, senior forward
Ben Cottreau's nine-game scoring streak ended Friday. He was also
shut out in Saturday's contest. Junior forward Matt Pierce had his
first multiple-goal game of his career Saturday with two goals
against the Falcons. Mercyhurst has played seven overtime games
this season (0-2-5) and three of the last four games. Mercyhurst
and Bentley had played only two ties in their prior 29 meetings
until the weekend. Mercyhurst had produced power play goals in four
straight games before being denied Friday. The Lakers play at Holy
Cross next weekend. Mercyhurst leads the all-time series 16-9-4 but
Holy Cross got a 4-1 win and a 2-2 overtime tie in Erie in late
October.
Rochester Institute of Technology
Despite going 0-1-1 over the weekend at Connecticut the Tigers
remained in first place in the Atlantic Hockey Association
standings, increasing their lead to three points over Air Force and
Sacred Heart. On Friday night RIT out-shot the Huskies by a 2-to-1
margin but were held scoreless for only the second time this
season. The Tigers went 0-for-9 on the power play, including
0-for-2 with a two-man advantage as the Tigers were shut out for
the first time since December 30 (Boston College). Louis Menard
took the loss on Friday night, allowing three goals and making 20
saves. Saturday saw RIT out-shoot the Huskies by a two-to-one
margin again but could only muster a goal. Andrew Favot broke an
80+ minute scoreless streak with his tally at 6:39 of the second
period on an assist from Brent Patry. It also gave RIT its first
lead of the weekend. RIT had several good scoring chances in the
third period an in overtime but were stymied by the Huskies. Louis
Menard turned in another solid performance, turning away 17 shots
and allowing one goal on Saturday as RIT salvaged a point out of
the weekend. RIT's power play struggled this weekend, going
0-for-13. The penalty killing unit was solid, stopping 7-of-9 power
play chances by the Huskies. The Tigers host American International
College for a pair of AHA tilts this weekend at Frank Ritter
Memorial Arena. RIT is 1-1-0 versus the Yellow Jackets this season
and will look to remain in first place atop the AHA standings.
Sacred Heart
The Pioneers split a weekend set with Holy Cross, winning Friday
night in Milford, 5-1, before dropping a 4-2 decision in Worcester
Saturday. Junior Eric Giosa scored two goals in Friday's win.
Senior Alex Parent had an assist in Saturday's game to move into a
tie for third all-time in career assists with 77. He is tied with
Martin Paquet ‘03. Parent now has a six game point scoring
streak and has tallied a point in seven of his last eight games.
Freshman Reade Wolansky had three assists Friday night to record
his first career multi-point game. Sophomore Mike Rosata tallied
his first career point Friday night by recording an assist.
Saturday's loss snapped the Pioneers seven game winning streak over
Holy Cross. The Pioneers travel to Canisius for a two game series
this weekend. SHU won and tied against the Griffs in Milford in
October.
