SIMON LAMBERT - R.I.T.
Senior, Forward, Ste. Therese, QUE
Lambert scored two goals and added two assists to lead to a
1-0-1 weekend against Mercyhurst. He dished out two assists,
including the primary assist on the game-tying goal in Friday's 3-3
draw. Lambert scored two goals in RIT's 4-2 win on Saturday. He set
a career-high for goals in a season with 19 and tied his
career-high with 42 points. He leads Atlantic Hockey in points.

STEFAN DREW - SACRED HEART
Junior, Goaltender, Oakbank, MAN
Drew made 31 saves to record his third shutout of
the season Saturday night against Holy Cross. The performance
included 24 saves over the final two periods to get SHU the
vcitory. Drew made 24 saves in a losing effort Friday night.
Overall for the weekend, Drew stopped 55 of the 57 shots he saw in
two games against Holy Cross, allowing just two goals.

Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week

JON GLANT - CONNECTICUT
Freshman, Goaltender, Garden Grove, Calif.
Glant won his first two career games this week giving up only
four goals combined. He made 50 saves and had a .926 save
percentage on the weekend.

Atlantic Hockey Honor Roll
|
|
Derrick Burnett, Air Force (Fr, F, Corona, Calif.) - Scored the
game-winner on Friday with the first goal of the game...Scored in
three straight games...His two assists on Saturday tie a career
high...Has scored in six of the last seven games.
Andrew Volkening, Air Force (So, G, Genoa, Ill.) - Recorded
back-to-back shutouts for the first time in his career...Set a new
school record with a consecutive scoreless streak vs. Division I
teams of 138 minutes. Volkening's streak is the second-longest in
school history as Pat Kielb had a streak of 168 minutes in 1994 vs.
Division II teams...Now has two shutouts this season and three in
his career...Is the first Air Force goalie to post back-to-back
shutouts since Pat Kielb blanked Mankato State twice in 1994.
Cody Omilusik, Army (Fr, F, Traverse City, Mich.) - Omilusik had
the first multiple point game of his career and helped Army remain
in first place in the conference standings with a split at Bentley.
Omilusik had two goals and an assist during a 6-3 win on Saturday.
Omilusik scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the
pivotal second period and then added an empty net insurance goal
late in the game. He was credited with an assist on Army's third
goal as well.
Joe Calvi, Bentley (Fr, G, New Lenox, Ill.) - Calvi posted a .938
save percentage and 2.51 goals against average in a 1-1 weekend
against Army. He made a season-best 43 saves while allowing only
one goal to earn the win on Friday, then stopped 33 shots on
Saturday.
Anthony Canzoneri, Bentley (Jr, F, Homer Glen, Ill.) - Canzoneri
scored a goal and added an assist this weekend. He notched an
assist on Friday night and scored on Saturday. Canzoneri now has a
four-game point-scoring streak.
Dain Prewitt, Bentley (Jr, F, Westminster, Colo.) - Prewitt scored
a goal and added an assist this weekend, netting the first goal in
a 2-1 win over Army on Friday and tallying an assist on Saturday.
Prewitt is the Falcons' leading scorer and has a four-game
point-scoring streak.
Cory Conacher, Canisius (Fr, F, Burlington, ONT) - Conacher netted
a pair of goals against Air Force this weekend. The rookie has now
posted 16 points (seven goals and nine assists) in just 16 career
games.
Jason Krispel, Connecticut (Fr, F, Cypress, Calif.) - Krispel
continued his hot streak with his second straight three-point week.
He recorded an assist on the tying goal on Friday and sealed the
win with an empty net goal. On Saturday he recorded an assist on
the winning goal. He had seven shots over the weekend and was also
an impressive plus 4.
Jordan Behler, Connecticut (Jr, D, Port Jefferson, N.Y.) - Behler
recorded a career high two assists on Saturday and was plus five
for the weekend, tops on the team.
Rob Forshner, Holy Cross (So, F, Sundre, ALB) - Forshner scored two
goals including the game-winner in the 3-1 win over Sacred Heart on
Friday. He now has two game-winning goals on the season. Forshner
has five goals and 15 assists for 20 points on the year, which are
all career best marks.
Adam Roy, Holy Cross (Fr, G, Feeding Hills, Mass.) - Roy stopped 37
of 38 shots in the 3-1 victory over Sacred Heart on Friday. He had
15 saves in the first period, seven in the second and 15 in the
third. Roy's 667 saves this season are the most for a Holy Cross
freshman goalie in a single-season since the program started
playing a full Division I schedule in the 1998-99 season. He is
currently ranked fourth on the Holy Cross Division I single-season
saves list.
Steve Cameron, Mercyhurst (Fr, F, Mission, BC) - Had one goal and
two assists in 0-1-1 weekend against RIT. Second multi-point game
of the season in Saturday's 4-2 loss.
Matt Pierce, Mercyhurst (Jr, F, Pakenham, ONT) - Had two goals and
one assist against the Tigers. His two points came in Saturday's
loss, his third multi-point game of the season.
Brett Robinson, Mercyhurst (Jr, F, Alton, ONT) - A goal and two
assists in 0-1-1 weekend against RIT. First multiple-point game of
the season in Friday's 3-3 tie.
Louis Menard, R.I.T. (So, G, Chicoutimi, QUE) - Menard stopped
58-of-63 shots in leading RIT to three road points at Mercyhurst to
move into second place. He stopped 34 shots in a 3-3 tie on Friday,
then turned away 24 shots in a 4-2 win over the Lakers on Saturday.
Menard is now 14-9-5 this season with a 2.65 goals against average
and .907 save percentage.
Alexandre Parent, Sacred Heart (Sr, F, Boisbriand, QUE) - Parent
had a three point weekend, scoring a goal and adding two assists in
SHU's split the Holy Cross. Friday night he assisted on the
Pioneers' only goal. Saturday night he assisted on the first
Pioneer goal and scored the third goal of the night. It's the
seventh straight series that Parent has recoreded multiple points.
The captain now has a 14 game point scoring streak and has scored a
team best 14 goals.

Atlantic Hockey Team Notes
|
Air Force
Has won three straight for the first time all season...Earned
just its third series sweep of the season, and the second in league
play with the two wins over Canisius...Clinched home ice in the
first-round of the playoffs for the second straight year. AFA will
host a quarterfinal series, March 7-9, at Cadet Ice Arena. The
opponent is yet to be determined...AFA recorded back-to-back
shutouts for the first time in 14 years. AFA shutout Mercyhurst,
7-0, on Feb. 9 and then beat Canisius, 3-0, Feb. 22...The 4-3 win
over Canisius Saturday marked the first time AFA has won a one-goal
game since early November. AFA was 0-6 in one-goal games prior to
last Saturday...AFA held Canisius to just 24 shots in the series.
AFA held the Griffs to a season-low 11 shots on Friday and just 13
on Saturday. The Falcons are allowing just 24 shots per game this
season...Andrew Volkening set a new school record with a
consecutive scoreless streak vs. Division I teams of 138 minutes.
Volkening's streak is the second-longest in school history as Pat
Kielb had a streak of 168 minutes in 1994 vs. Division II
teams...Jeff Hajner tied a career high with two goals on
Saturday...Derrick Burnett tied a career high with two assists on
Saturday...Senior winger Josh Print returned to the lineup after
missing six games with an injury. He had an assist in each
game...Matt Charbonneau had three assists in the Canisius series
and has now scored in four straight games (six assists in his last
four games)...AFA has won eight league road games this season, more
than any other AHA team. The Falcons are 8-6-0 in league road games
and 8-8-1 in all road games this season...Close out the regular
season with a two-game series vs. AIC, Feb. 29-March 1, at Cadet
Ice Arena. AFA swept AIC earlier this season in Springfield, 6-3
and 4-2. AFA is 14-0 vs. AIC all-time.
American International
The AIC hockey team suffered back-to-back losses at the hands of
the Connecticut Huskies over the weekend. The Yellow Jackets
dropped Friday's contest, on the road, 4-2. Senior Mike Field and
sophomore Chris Campanale each scored in the losing effort. On
Saturday, AIC fell in the same manner, 4-2, this time it was
seniors Bryan Jurynec and Greg Genovese who registered the goals
for the Yellow Jackets. AIC capitalized twice on the power-play
Saturday (2-7). The Jackets led three out of the six periods played
over the weekend, but gave up two separate three goal stanzas they
couldn't overcome. AIC trailed 3-2 in the waning moments of both
games, but gave up empty net goals to extend the lead both
evenings. Next up for the Yellow Jackets is a trip to Colorado to
square off against the Air Force Falcons.
Army
The Black Knights remained in first place in the conference
standings with a series split at Bentley. Army lost the opening
game 2-1 to snap a nine-game unbeaten streak but won the final game
6-3 to improve to 9-1-1 in its last 11 games ... Freshman Cody
Omilusik had his first multiple-point game with two goals and an
assist in Saturday's contest ... Owen Meyer also had three points
with a goal and two assists. Luke Flicek and Ken Rowe each had a
goal and assist and Jeff Fearing and Zach McKelvie had two assists.
McKelvie played in his 100th career game on Saturday and set a new
career mark with his 13th assist of the season ... Army goalie Josh
Kassel had his two-game shutout streak snapped when he allowed a
first-period goal during Friday's contest ... Kassel made 52 saves
over the weekend ... Army outshot Bentley in both games 39-31 and
44-26 .... Freshman Joey Ammon scored his sixth goal of the season
in Friday's loss ... Army will conclude its regular season with a
pivotal series with Sacred Heart. Sacred Heart is just two points
behind Army and will host Friday's game. Army will honor its
seniors Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at Tate Rink.
Bentley
Bentley earned a split with Army this weekend, winning a 2-1
contest on Friday before falling by a 6-3 margin on Saturday ...
Friday's win gave the Falcons a three-game winning streak, matching
Bentley's longest winning streak of the season ... Freshman Joe
Calvi made a season-best 43 saves on Friday night, allowing only
one goal to earn the win ... Junior Pat Percella scored the
game-winning goal on Friday night, breaking a 1-1 tie in the first
period ... It was Percella's fourth career game-winning goal, tying
him for second among Bentley's Division I career leaders, alongside
classmates Tom Dickhudt and Dain Prewitt, among others ... The
Falcons conclude the regular season with a pair at Rochester
Institute of Technology next weekend ... The Falcons managed one
point against the Tigers when the teams met in Watertown this fall
... Bentley is still alive for a first-round playoff series at home
... The Falcons would need to sweep RIT and see Canisius sweep
Mercyhurst.
Canisius
The Griffs lost a pair of games to the Air Force Falcons, 3-0 and
4-3, at the Buffalo State Sports Arena over the weekend. The two
losses eliminated Canisius from home ice contention for the
Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals. Canisius fell to 8-5-1 at home this
season with the two losses. The Griffs were swept at home for the
first time since March 4 and 5 in 2005. Freshman Cory Conacher led
the Griffs' offense with two goals against the Falcons, scoring
twice on the power play. Conacher has now posted 16 points this
season on seven goals and nine assists in just 16 games. Despite
missing the first 17 games of the season due to injury, Conacher
ranks 10th in Atlantic Hockey for scoring among freshmen. Classmate
Vincent Scarsella recorded an assist on both of Conacher's goals
this weekend. Scarsella now leads the team with 26 points on the
season with seven goals and 19 assists. His 26 points are the most
in Atlantic Hockey among rookies. He also ranks sixth in the league
with 19 assists and seventh with 15 power-play points. Sophomore
Andrew Loewen returned from injury and recorded 58 saves in the two
games. Loewen had missed the last four games. The Griffs return to
the ice on Friday, February 29 when it will honor their five senior
on Senior Day. Canisius will honor the accomplishment of captain
Greg Brown, Kyle Bushee, Scott Follett, David Kasch and Bryce Luker
prior to its game against Mercyhurst.
Connecticut
This was the first weekend all year that UConn was able to earn
four points. Jon Glant became the first Husky goalie other than
Beau Erickson to win a game since February 23, 2007 when Scott
Tomes beat Holy Cross. Andrew Olson is now one goal short of
matching Chris Myhro for the Division I Connecticut freshman record
of 13 goals in a season. After out shooting opponents only once in
first 28 games, UConn has now out shot its opponent three times in
the last four. Four of the top seven scorers for UConn are freshman
in Andrew Olson, Justin Hernandez, Jason Krispel and Matt
Pedemonti. UConn closes out the regular season just looking to
improve and get ready for the Atlantic Hockey Association playoffs.
The Huskies close with Holy Cross, the opponent they have played
the most all-time with 87 games against. UConn is 44-42-1 all-time
against the Crusaders.
Holy Cross
Freshman goalie Adam Roy's 667 saves this season are the most for a
Holy Cross freshman goalie in a single-season since the program
started playing a full Division I schedule in the 1998-99 season.
He is currently ranked fourth on the Holy Cross Division I
single-season saves list. Seniors Matt Burke and Dale Reinhardt
have each played in 134 career games which are tied for eighth on
the Holy Cross all-time career games played list. This season's
group of 10 seniors: Matt Burke, Brent Franklin, Brian Gabriel,
Bryce Nantes, Frank O'Grady, Dale Reinhardt, Cal St. Denis, Chris
Trovato, Jim Tselikis and Matt Werry has been a part of 63 wins,
one Atlantic Hockey regular season and tournament title and a
victory in the NCAA Tournament. Holy Cross is tied for second in
the nation and leads the league in fewest penalty minutes per game
with 10.6. The Crusaders' 23.1 power play percentage is ranked
fourth in the nation. The Crusaders are 36-156 on power play
opportunities. Senior Dale Reinhardt currently has 45 goals and 71
assists for 116 points in 134 career games. Reinhardt is ranked
seventh on the all-time Holy Cross Division I assists list, while
he is eighth in points and goals. This season he is second on the
team in assists with 17 and points with 24, while he is fourth in
goals with seven. He is a finalist for the Frozen Four Skills
Challenge. Freshman forward Everett Sheen's 14 goals lead the team.
Sheen also has eight assists as he is third on the team in points
with 22. Sophomore Brodie Sheahan leads the team with 20 assists
and 31 points, while he is second on the team in goals with 11,
which are all career best marks. Holy Cross will host the 2008 NCAA
Men's Ice Hockey Division I Northeast Regional at Worcester's DCU
Center on March 29-30. Holy Cross will host again in 2010.
Mercyhurst
Mercyhurst needs one point against Canisius next weekend to clinch
a top-five playoff spot and the right to host a quarterfinal series
or anything but a Bentley sweep of RIT. RIT won the season series,
2-1-1. Mercyhurst has now allowed a short-handed goal in four
straight games and a total of nine this season. RIT leads the
all-time series, 21-12-4. Junior goaltender Matt Lundin stopped a
second-period penalty shot Saturday night. Freshman netminder Ryan
Zapolski saw his first action in Saturday's game since a 4-2 win
over Army on January 12. Mercyhurst has now played in eight
overtime games this season (0-5-3). Junior forward Brett Robinson
played in his 100th career game on Friday. Mercyhurst and Canisius
will conclude the regular season with a home-and-home beginning in
Buffalo on Friday. The teams split earlier this season with each
team winning at home. Mercyhurst leads the all-time series,
29-14-7.
Rochester Institute of Technology
RIT enters the final weekend of the regular season having clinched
home-ice for the first round of the Atlantic Hockey Tournament.
They can finish as high as first and as low as fifth. Two wins over
Bentley this weekend would clinch at least a #2 seed. Senior
forward Simon Lambert recorded four more points this weekend and
now has a seven-game points scoring streak. Lambert has seven goals
and six assists during that span. He now has a career-high 19 goals
and matched his career-best with 42 points. He leads the AHA in
scoring and is tied for eighth in the nation in points per game.
Lambert moved into to a tie for 20th in all-time scoring at RIT
with 143 points. Sophomore defenseman Dan Ringwald now has a
seven-game point scoring streak, with two goals and 11 assists
during that span. He leads the nation in scoring by a defenseman
with 31 points in 31 games. Senior Matt Smith is tied for second in
the nation with 13 power-play goals and is tied for eighth with 21
goals. The Tiger power-play is on fire, converting on 37 percent
with 13 goals in 33 chances over the last seven games. They have
moved up to seventh in the nation, converting 21.9 percent of their
chances with the man-advantage. RIT's penalty-killing unit scored
two shorthanded goals in the weekend and had a penalty shot by
Brennan Sarazin stopped. Sarazin and Draper scored shorthanded
goals on the weekend. RIT rallied from a 3-1 deficit on Friday to
earn the tie. The Tigers went 2-1-1 against Mercyhurst this season,
firing 177 shots (44.3 per game) int eh four games this season. RIT
hosts Bentley this weekend to close out the regular season. The
Tigers went 1-0-1 against the Falcons on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1,
winning 3-2 and securing a 2-2 tie. RIT broke two school records on
Friday with the 3-3 tie. It was their ninth overtime game and sixth
tie. RIT is 2-1-6 in overtime this season.
Sacred Heart
The Pioneers split a weekend series with Holy Cross, losing in
Worcester 3-1 Friday night before rebounding for a 4-0 victory on
home ice Saturday. Senior Alex Parent had a goal and two assists to
record his seventh straight multi-point weekend. Parent now has a
14 game point-scoring streak. The captain has 134 career points,
good for third place in SHU history. Junior Bear Trapp had a goal
and an assist on the weekend. He now has 72 career assists, moving
him into fifth place all-time. Sophomores Erik Boisvert and Dave
Jarman had their point streaks snapped Friday night at seven and
nine, respectively. Junior Stefan Drew made 31 saves Saturday night
to earn his third shutout of the season. Saturday's win clinched a
home ice spot for the Pioneers in the first round of the Atlantic
Hockey playoffs. The Pioneers meet Army in a home-and-home series
to close out the regular season with the regular season
championship on the line. The teams meet Friday night in Milford
with the regular season closing out in West Point on Saturday.
