Connecticut 3, Holy Cross 3 (Overtime)

WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman forward Everett Sheen (Lethbridge, Alberta) scored two goals as the Holy Cross men's hockey team tied Connecticut, 3-3, on Saturday night at the Hart Center in Atlantic Hockey action.  With the tie, the Crusaders are now 5-4-3 overall (4-3-3 AHA), while the Huskies are 4-8-1 overall (3-6-1 AHA). All three of Holy Cross' goals came on the power as its 31.2 power play percentage ranks first in the nation. Sheen's seven goals this season lead the team. Holy Cross took the two-game weekend series, 1-0-1.

The Huskies took a 1-0 lead at 4:44 into the first period when Ryan Hawkins knocked in a rebound from in front of the net. The Crusaders answered back to tie the game at the 10:02 mark when senior defenseman Matt Burke (Milton, Mass.) fired in a slap shot on a two-man advantage power play for his first goal of the season. Just 26 seconds later while on the power play, Sheen netted his sixth goal of the year to give Holy Cross a 2-1 lead. UConn then tied the game at 2-2 at 15:04 when Matt Turner placed the puck into the left side of the net. For the period, the Crusaders outshot the Huskies by a 12-7 margin, while Holy Cross went 2-3 on the power play and UConn went 0-1.

In the second period, Sheen gave Holy Cross a 3-2 lead at the 11:47 mark when he scored on the power play for his second goal of the game and seventh of the season. Holy Cross outshot UConn, 14-8, while the Crusaders went 1-1 on the power play and the Huskies went 0-1.

At the 9:26 mark of the third period, UConn's Alec Kirschner tied the game at 3-3 with his first goal of the year. The Crusaders  killed a penalty in the final minute of regulation, while they were unable to score on a power play in overtime as the game ended in the 3-3 final score.

Holy Cross freshman goalie Adam Roy (Feeding Hills, Mass.) made 27 saves and is now 3-3-2 on the year, while UConn's Beau Erickson stopped 32 shots and is 4-8-1. Holy Cross outshot UConn by a 35-30 margin, while the Crusaders went 3-8 on the power play and the Huskies went 0-3.
