Port Huron, Mich. - The Port Huron Icehawks of the International Hockey League, have signed rookie forward Kerry Bowman to a professional tryout. Bowman made his professional debut last night as Port Huron blanked the Bloomington PrairieThunder 2-0 on home ice. He did not factor in the scoring.

Bowman (6-0, 180 lbs) recently wrapped up his senior season at Mercyhurst, where he posted 14 points (5g, 9a) in 36 games and was awarded the Bill Smith Award for meritorious service to the game. He also notched the game winner in overtime on March 8, 2008 to win the best-of-three quarterfinals against Canisius and send the Lakers to the Atlantic Hockey Association Final Five.

The 23-year old finished his collegiate career (2004-2008) with 28 points (12g, 16a) in 120 games.

Bowman was reunited with Icehawks center Rich Hansen. The duo played for the Lakers during the 2004-05 season. Port Huron's win last night started a five-game homestand.
