Senior defender Kyle Bushee (Otsego, Mich.) has
signed a contract with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the East Coast
Hockey League.
"Kyle Bushee is going to have an opportunity to step in and
contribute," said Cincinnati head coach Chuck Weber. "Any time
there is a player out there that you think might be able to help
your team, you need to explore that possibility. Billy Irish-Baker
is a player that had the same opportunity last season and it has
paid dividends this year."
Bushee recently completed his playing career with the Griffs. In 65
career games at Canisius, the Otsego, Michigan-native accumulated
31 points on nine goals and 22 assists. In 36 games during his
senior season, Bushee finished fifth in Atlantic Hockey for scoring
among defensemen with 18 points. He scored six goals and added 12
assists to lead all Canisius defenders. The assistant captain also
led the team with two game-winning scores.
Bushee played in all situations for the Griffs, contributing on
both the power play and penalty kill. He ranked third on the team
with eight points on the power play. He also led Canisius to set
school records for consecutive games without allowing an extra-man
goal and consecutive power-plays killed.
The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadians and
the Nashville Predators of the NHL and the Hamilton Bulldogs and
Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL.
Bushee joins former Griff Irish-Baker ‘07 on the Cincinnati
roster. Former Canisius standouts Michael Cohen '07 and Tim Songin
'06 are also currently playing in the ECHL.
