SIMON LAMBERT - R.I.T. Lambert recorded four goals and six assists for 10 points in
eight games, helping lead RIT to a 4-2-1 record in January,
vaulting the Tigers to the top of the AHA standings. Lambert had at
least point in the first six games of the month. He had two goals
and an assist in a sweep at Holy Cross to begin the month, then
three assists, as the Tigers split with Air Force. On Jan. 18,
Lambert ha the game-winning goal and two assists in a 4-2 win over
Sacred Heart and then scored an empty-netter in a 4-2 victory the
following night. Lambert leads the conference in scoring with 29
points and has 23 points in 20 conference games. |

Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Month | ||

ANDREW LOEWEN - CANISIUS Loewen recorded the top month of any Canisius goaltender since
the Griffs moved to Division I. The sophomore averaged 31.3 saves
per game and posted a goals against average of 0.99 and a save
percentage of .969 in six January games. He topped the previous
school records of 1.28 (Sean Weaver in Oct. 2000) and .957 (Dan
Giffin in January 2006). He opened the month by stopping 69-of-71
shots while taking three points against Bentley. He recorded 33
saves in the opener and then stopped 36 shots in the finale while
only a lost stick kept him from posting a shutout. Loewen then
started a school-record scoreless streak that spanned four games.
He started the run by keeping Connecticut off the scoreboard for
the final 29:32. Loewen then recorded consecutive shutouts in
back-to-back games against Connecticut and Army. In the shutout
victory over Army, Loewen matched his season high with 40 saves. In
the finale, Loewen held the Black Knights off the scoreboard for
the first 51:28 of the game. He held opponents without a goal for
201 minutes of play, topping the previous record of 147:34, set by
Dan Giffin in 2006. His stretch, in which he stopped
104-consecutive shots, is also the third-longest in the nation this
season. The Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week on two occasions
during January, Loewen was also strong on the penalty kill. He
helped kill all 26 power plays he faced during the month as the
Griffs killed a Division I school-record 37-consecutive power plays
from December to January. Loewen's performance during the month
vaulted him up the Atlantic Hockey rankings. Outside the top 10 in
both GAA and save percentage before January, Loewen now ranks first
in the league in save percentage with .969 and third with a GAA of
2.53. Against league competition, Loewen leads all goalies with a
GAA of 1.89 and a save percentage of .940. |

ERIK PETERSON - BENTLEY Scored first career hat trick on Jan. 11 in 6-4 win at Holy
Cross...Scored all three goals in third period, including a pair of
goals 11 seconds apart...Hat trick included his first career
game-winning goal and first career short-handed goal...Set Bentley
Division I record and tied all-time program record with three goals
in a period...Notched two goals each in back-to-back games Jan.
25-26 vs. Mercyhurst...Scored game-tying goal with 13 seconds
remaining in regulation to force overtime on Jan. 26...Tied for
Atlantic Hockey rookie scoring lead with 19 points this
season...Leads Bentley with 12 goals this season...Named Atlantic
Hockey Rookie of the Week twice, on Jan. 14 & 28...Named to
Atlantic Hockey Honor Roll on Jan. 7. |
