ARMY'S KASSEL NAMED SECOND TEAM EAST ALL-AMERICAN


Denver, Colo. --  Army's junior netminder, Josh Kassel was named today a Second Team East All-American.  Kassel becomes the second Atlantic Hockey Association student-athlete to garner All-American honors, as senior Eric Ehn, Air Force, was a member of the Second Team last season.

Kassel, a native of Greensburg, Pa., led the Black Knights to their first-ever Atlantic Hockey Association Regular Season Title and the first-ever conference crown in the 104 year history of the hockey program.

Josh posted career numbers during the 2007-08 campaign.  He was 18-10-2 overall with a 1.92 goals against average and a .925 saves percentage.  In confernce action Kassel went 16-6-2 and posted a 1.75 GAA and a .931 saves percentage. 

He was also honored at the Atlantic Hockey Tournament Banquet with the conference Player of the Year as well as a First Team All-Conference performer.

During a stretch from January 18 thru March 15, he posted a 13-3-1 record with a 1.29 GAA and a .950 saves percentage.  He was named Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Week four times, Player of the Week and Goaltender of the Month, once.

Joining Kassel on the second team are on defense, senior Grant Clitsome (Clarkson) and senior Brad Flaishans (New Hampshire).  On the forward line are senior Bryan Ewing (Boston University), senior Matt Fornataro (New Hampshire) and senior Peter MacArthur (Boston University).
