Atlantic Hockey Names Monthly Awards for October

Atlantic Hockey Player of the Month

Simon Lambert - R.I.T.
Senior, Forward, Ste. Therese, QUE

Lambert had a goal and two assists and was named the game's first star in RIT's 4-1 win over #18 Cornell University in front of 5,124 fans at the Blue Cross Arena on Saturday, Oct. 27. Lambert opened the season with three assists in a 6-5 loss at Colgate on Oct. 13. Lambert is tied for sixth in the nation in points per game and is tied for fourth in assists per contest.

Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Month

Andrew Volkening - Air Force
Sophomore, Goaltender, Genoa, Ill.

AHA Goalie of the Week, Oct. 22 as he earned two wins and allowed just two goals in AFA's sweep of 14th-ranked Quinnipiac (4-1 and 3-1) ... Leads the AHA in goals against average (1.52) and saves percentage (.943) ... Ranks 11th in the nation in GAA and ninth in saves percentage ... Allowed just one goal in three of his four starts ... Led Air Force to a 3-1 start to tie as the second-best start since 1975-76 ... The 3-1 start ties is the best in school history against Division I opponents ... In four games, Volkening has allowed just four goals in the final two periods.

Joe Calvi - Bentley
Freshman, Goaltender, New Lenox, Ill.

Recorded first career shutout in third collegiate game on Oct. 26 vs. Air Force...Ranks third in Atlantic Hockey with 2.02 goals against average...Ranks second in Atlantic Hockey with .925 save percentage...Named to Atlantic Hockey Honor Roll both weeks he has played this season.
