Dave Jarman - Sacred Heart

Junior, Forward, Toronto, ONT

Jarman factored in on all four goals in the Pioneers win over UConn Saturday night, tallying two goals and two assists. The junior got the offense rolling by scoring SHU’s first goal midway through the first period. He then assisted on the second goal before scoring what proved to be the game-winning goal midway through the third period. To cap off the victory, Jarman got the primary assist on an empty-net goal in the final seconds. Jarman now has 11 goals, third most on the team..

Ian Dams - Holy Cross

Junior, Goaltender, Manotick, ONT

Dams earned his first collegiate shutout in the 1-0 overtime win over American International in the Atlantic Hockey First Round on March 7. He stopped all 30 shots that he faced. He is now 6-5-1 on the season. His 16 career victories are tied for third all-time on the Holy Cross Division I list, while his 1,064 saves rank third.

Everett Sheen - Holy Cross (So., F, Lethbridge, ALB) - Sheen scored the game-winning goal at 8:24 into overtime in the 1-0 win over American International in the Atlantic Hockey First Round on March 7. He fired a shot into the lower left side of the net for his 10th goal of the year. Sheen has eight points in the last five games with one goal and seven assists. For the year, he leads the team in assists with 13, while he is tied for second in goals and in points with 23.

Air Force: Top-seeded AFA was off last week and will host No. 8 Sacred Heart, March 13-15, 7:05 MT each night at Cadet Ice Arena...Air Force will host an AHA playoff game for the third straight year. Air Force is 3-0 at home in the AHA playoff and 7-0 all-time in the AHA Tournament...Air Force and Sacred Heart have played 13 times in the all-time series and Air Force holds a 9-1-3 lead...AFA won all four games this season by a combined score of 23-6...Six of the 13 games in the series have gone into overtime...AFA and Sacred Heart have played once in the playoffs and the Falcons won, 5-4 in overtime, inte 2007 AHA semifinals...AFA is 4-0-2 vs. Sacred Heart at Cadet Ice Arena...Andrew Volkening started all four games in goal vs. the Pioneers and had a 1.49 GAA and a .941 saves percentage in winning all four games...Greg Flynn was AFA’s top scorer vs. SHU this season with nine points (2-7-9) in four games...AFA is a combined 10-3-2 in February and March over the last two years...AFA has won a school record 23 Division I games this season...Eight of Air Force’s last 11 games have been decided by one goal or less and AFA is 6-1-1 in those games...Jacques Lamoureux leads the nation in goals (0.82), power play (12) and game-winners (7). Lamoureux is third in the nation in scoring (1.35). Greg Flynn is the top scoring defenseman in the nation with 1.00 points per game...Lamoureux’s 28 goals this season tie as the 11th most in AFA history and the most since 1985...Lamouruex tied the AHA record with five game-winning goals this season in AHA games only...Matt Fairchild tied the AHA record with four short-handed goals this season in AHA games only...Air Force’s attendance average of 2,630 is 105 percent of its capacity (2,502), the best in the nation...Air Force is 14-3 at home this season, the most Division I home wins in school history.

American International: The Yellow Jackets season officially came to an end Saturday night as they lost 1-0 in overtime at Holy Cross. With the loss AIC’s record fell to 5-28-2 for the season and to 5-23-1 in Atlantic Hockey play. Despite playing hard, a goal in overtime propelled the Crusader into the next round of the conference playoffs. After three scoreless periods of hockey, Holy Cross found the back of the net at 8:24 into overtime. Senior Tom Fenton stopped 22 shots in his final game for the Yellow Jackets.

Bentley: Bentley was off this weekend, but will resume play Friday night when they host Canisius for game one of their quarterfinals series with the Golden Griffins. The two teams last met in the postseason in 2005, with Bentley taking a 4-2 win in a quarterfinals game in Buffalo. That was the only time they’ve met in the postseason. Friday’s game will be the Falcons’ first home playoff game since the 2005-06 season when they hosted Army and posted a 4-3 double overtime win. That was also the same year Bentley advanced to the AHA Championship game. Senior Dain Prewitt leads all current Bentley players in points against Canisius with a 5-9-14 line in 12 career games. Senior Jeff Gumaer has a 5-8-13 line in 12 games as well. Prewitt leads all current players in postseason scoring with a 5-2-7 line in six postseason games.

Holy Cross: With the 1-0 overtime win over American International on March 7, the Crusaders now have an 8-4-0 all-time record in the Atlantic Hockey Tournament as they have won two titles (2004 & 2006). The Crusaders will play at RIT in a best two-out-of three quarterfinals series which will be a rematch from last season when RIT swept the series with two 5-4 overtime wins. In 2007, Holy Cross lost at Air Force in the quarterfinals. In 2006 at the Hart Center, Holy Cross defeated AIC in the quarterfinals (3-1), UConn in the semifinals (4-1) and Bentley in the championship game (5-2), earning their second title and second NCAA Tournament appearance. Holy Cross won the first-ever Atlantic Hockey Tournament in 2004, earning the program’s first ever spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Crusaders defeated AIC (5-0), Canisius (4-1) and Sacred Heart in the title game (4-0). In 2005, Holy Cross defeated Sacred Heart, 4-2, in the quarterfinals, but then fell to eventual champion Mercyhurst, 4-3 (OT), in the semifinals. In 1999, the Crusaders won the MAAC Tournament Championship by defeating Canisius, 4-3, in the finals. Holy Cross is now 5-0-0 all-time in Atlantic Hockey Tournament games played at the Hart Center, including the win over American International on March 7. Holy Cross defeated Sacred Heart in 2005 and the Yellow Jackets, Connecticut and Bentley in 2006. The Crusaders were called for no penalties in the game against American International on March 7. This was for first time Holy Cross had no penalties since Feb. 2, 2001, also against the Yellow Jackets. Junior goalie Ian Dams (Manotick, Ontario) earned his first collegiate shutout as he stopped all 30 shots that he faced in the 1-0 overtime win over American International in the Atlantic Hockey First Round. He now has 1,064 career saves which are third all-time on the Holy Cross Division I career saves list. Also his 16 victories are tied for third. Sophomore Jordan Cyr (Winnipeg, Manitoba) leads the team with 17 goals. His 17 goals are tied for fourth on the Holy Cross Division I single-season goals list. Sophomore Everett Sheen (Lethbridge, Alberta) has one goal and seven assists for eight points in the last five games. He scored the game-winning overtime goal against American International on March 7. His 13 assists lead the team, while his 10 goals and 23 points are tied for second.

Mercyhurst: Mercyhurst and Army have met twice in conference playoffs. The Lakers won 2-1 at the Ice Center March 9, 2002, in the MAAC Quarterfinals and 4-2 last March in Rochester in the Atlantic Hockey Semifinals. The Lakers lead the all-time series 19-9-0. The teams split four games this season, each winning a pair on its home ice. Junior forward Chris Risi, who scored the overtime game-winner against Canisius 2-28, has tallied at least one point in 10 of the last 11 games he’s played. Senior forward Matt Pierce has collected a t least one point in seven of his last eight contests. Sophomore goalie Ryan Zapolski started 3 of the four games this season against Army. He allowed seven goals in the three contests and was 2 and 1. The Lakers are 12-2-1 in their last 15 games. They started the season 1-8 but have gone 18-6-3 since. The last time Mercyhurst had at least 20 wins in a season was 2005-06 (22-13-1).

Rochester Institute of Technology: RIT is the #2 seed in the AHA Tournament and for the second straight year, will host Holy Cross in the quarterfinal round of the AHA Tournament in a best-of-three series on Friday, Saturday and Sunday if necessary at Ritter Arena, with all games starting at 7:05 p.m.. Tickets are now on sale for this weekend¹s AHA quarterfinals at the Gordon Field House Box office (585) 475-4121 and are $10 for adults and $5 for students with ID. RIT won all four meetings between the two clubs this season by a combined total of 19-4. The Tigers defeated Holy Cross at Ritter Arena, 5-1 on Oct. 30 and 5-2 on Nov. 1. RIT swept the Crusaders on the road, 6-0 on Feb. 13 and 3-1 the following night. The Tigers and Crusaders played a memorable quarterfinal series last year in which RIT won both games in overtime by identical 5-4 scores. The Tigers lead the all-time series between the two schools, 14-5-0 and 10-0 since moving to Division I in 2005. Overall, RIT has won 14 straight games against Holy Cross dating back to Nov. 4, 1983. RIT finished the regular season with a 16-2-1 mark over its last 19 games and tied the Division I school record with 21 wins (21-11-2). Both RIT and Air Force set an Atlantic Hockey record with 42 points (both 20-6-2 records) in conference play. The Tigers are now 13-0-1 when leading after two periods, 12-2-1 in the second game of a weekend series and 14-0-0 when scoring at least five goals in a game this season. RIT is second in Division I with 10 shorthanded goals, one behind Minnesota State. RIT is tied for third in Division I in scoring, averaging 3.71 goals per game (three of the top four scoring teams are from Atlantic Hockey). The Tigers have tremendously balanced scoring, with seven players scoring at least 25 points and 14 in double digits. The Tiger power-play is 27-for-94 (28.7 percent) in the last 16 games. They have moved up to a tie for third in the nation overall at 21.1 percent. Brennan Sarazin has 22 points over his last 14 games (10-12-22). Freshman Tyler Brenner is tied for fifth among all freshmen in scoring with 30 points. The Tigers have a nine-game unbeaten streak (8-0-1) on the road. RIT is 11-4-0 at home this season and has scored 73 goals in 15 home games (4.9 per game). RIT has averaged 1,851 fans per home games this season (Ritter Arena capacity is 2,100) and have five sellouts, including three in a row.

Sacred Heart: The Pioneers won their first round playoff game, beating UConn 4-2 at the Milford Ice Pavilion Saturday night. Junior Dave Jarman was in on all four SHU goals, garnering two goals and two assists. Jarman now has at least one point in eight of his last nine games. Sophomore Patrick Knowlton had a goal and an assist to record his first multi-point game of the year. This is the third straight year the Pioneers have won a playoff game, all coming on home ice. SHU will travel to Air Force for the AHA quarterfinals Friday-Sunday.
