WEST POINT, N.Y.  - For the fourth consecutive season, an NHL club will spend part of its training camp at the United States Military Academy.

The Philadelphia Flyers, fresh of an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals, will utilize the state-of-the-art facilities at West Point on October 6 and 7.

The Flyers, who relied on tough defense and opportunist scoring on the way to 42-29-11 record, are scheduled to skate from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Tate Rink on Monday and Tuesday.

The team will also work out in the O'Meara, Malek, Dawkins Class of 1959 Strength Development Center. Team-building and military-based training, as well as lunch with the Corps of Cadets, are all scheduled.

"We are grateful the Flyers have chosen to return to West Point," said Army hockey head coach Brian Riley, who helped coordinate the trip. "We tell our recruits and fans we have the some of the best facilities in the country and the NHL confirms it by coming back each season. This is great opportunity for our hockey players and fans to see a talented hockey team. It is also a great opportunity for us to show off West Point and the unbelievable men and women who make up the Corps of Cadets. I am thankful that Superintendent Gen. (Franklin) Hagenbeck and Athletics Director Kevin Anderson continue to embrace the NHL and allow us to share our facilities."

Philadelphia is scheduled to play a preseason game at the New Jersey Devils on Oct. 4 before traveling to West Point.

October will mark the Flyers' fourth trip to West Point. The squad was also at West Point in 2005, 2003 and 1998.

Philadelphia Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren has stressed consistency as one of the focuses of training camp after making minor roster adjustments from a team that gained 39 points in the standings following a challenging 2006-07.

Last year, the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Florida Panthers all trained at West Point. It was the second straight year the Rangers and Penguins were at West Point. The Buffalo Sabres, New Jersey Devils, U.S. Junior National Team and the Polish National team have also used West Point's facilities in the past.
