Rochester Institute of Technology: RIT drew a record crowd of
7,421 fans at Blue Cross Arena for Saturday’s 3-2 loss
against Colgate University on Saturday. The crowd of 7,421 easily
eclipsed the previous RIT record of 5,124 fans, set at Blue Cross
Arena on Oct. 27, 2007 vs. Cornell. It is also a record for a home
game involving an Atlantic Hockey Association team. The
season-opening contest was the focal point of RIT’s Brick
City Homecoming and Family Weekend. RIT held a 21-6 advantage in
shots over Colgate over the first 26 minutes of the game. Colgate
out-shot RIT 26-10 the rest of the way to hold a 32-31 edge in
shots. Down 3-2 in the third, RIT had a golden opportunity to tie
the game, but freshman Adam Hartley hit the post on a mini 2-on-1

McReynolds and Stevan Matic scored for RIT. Freshman defenseman
Chris Saracino recorded his first collegiate point, an assist on

become the all-time leader in coaching wins at RIT, as he is tied
with Eric Hoffberg. RIT allowed a shorthanded goal in the season
home opener for the second straight season. RIT heads north this
weekend to play ECAC foes St. Lawrence and Clarkson. The Tigers
play St. Lawrence on Friday at 7 p.m. and Clarkson on Saturday at

just one win at Clarkson (1-5) and none at St. Lawrence (0-4-0).
RIT also comes into the weekend series riding a nine game road
unbeaten streak, 8-0-1. RIT’s last loss on the road came on
Dec. 5, 2008 at Air Force.
