Recorded three goals and an assist in the first two games of his collegiate career. Pleskach tallied a goal and an assist in the Yellow Jackets season opener at Union and then found the back of the net twice in AIC’s 3-2 loss to RPI.

Atlantic Hockey Honor Roll

Matt Fairchild, Air Force (Senior, Forward, Ashburn, Va.) - Four points on two goals and two assists in two wins over RIT...One goal and two assists in Friday’s win...Assisted on Tim Kirby’s game winner with 1:45 remaining in regulation in the 5-4 win...Scored the game-winning goal on the power play with one second remaining in overtime on Saturday for a 3-2 win...Both goals on the weekend came on the power play.


John Kruse - Air Force (Freshman, Forward, Eden Prairie, Minn.) - Six points on one goal and five assists in the two wins over RIT...Three assists on Friday night in the 5-4 win; Assisted on the first three goals of the game...On Saturday, had one goal and two assists and assisted on Fairchild’s game-winner with one second remaining in overtime...Three assists are a career best...Three points in each game tie as his career best...His goal on Saturday was the first goal of the game and was his first career goal. His goal marked the first time this season that Air Force scored the first goal in the game.


Dan Koudys - Bentley (Freshman, Forward, Grimsby, ONT) - Koudys scored his first two career goals, including the game-winner with 5:01 left in the third period, in Bentley’s come-from-behind, 4-3 win over UConn last Friday night. He also added a secondary assist on Bentley’s third goal of the game.


Erik Peterson - Bentley (Junior, Forward, Shorewood, Minn.) - Peterson scored two goals in Bentley’s 4-3 win over UConn last Friday night. His first goal late in the second period tied the score at two. He scored again early in the third period to give Bentley a 3-2 lead.


Sean Ambrosie - Connecticut (Freshman, Forward, Moorhead, Minn.) - Ambrosie tallied two goals on the weekend, both of the power play kind, against Atlantic Hockey foe Bentley. The reigning Rookie of the Week notched the Huskies’ first goal of the night at Bentley, also recording the game-tying goal in the third period to give the Huskies a chance against the Falcons.


Justin Hernandez - Connecticut (Junior, Forward, Farmington Hills, Mich.) - Hernandez recorded a goal and two assists over the course of the weekend. The junior forward tallied both of his assists in the 4-3 loss against Bentley on UConn’s first two goals of the game. On Sunday, Hernandez recorded the lone Husky goal of the game against Hockey East opponent Merrimack on a power play opportunity. Hernandez recorded four shots on the weekend.


Everett Sheen - Holy Cross (Junior, Forward, Lethbridge, ALB) - Sheen recorded two goals and one assist for three points this weekend on the road versus Canisius as Holy Cross won both games by scores of 3-2. On Saturday he scored the first goal of the game and assisted on Holy Cross’ second goal, while on Sunday he netted the Crusaders’ second goal giving them a 2-1 lead. For the season, Sheen leads the team with three goals and four points.


Thomas Tysowsky - Holy Cross (Freshman, Goaltender, Amherst, N.Y.) - Tysowsky earned his first two collegiate victories as Holy Cross won both road contests against Canisius, 3-2. He made 51 saves and allowed four goals for a .927 save percentage and a 2.01 goals against average. On Saturday he made 24 saves, while on Sunday he made 27 saves.


Erik Vos - Holy Cross (Freshman, Forward, Carlisle, ONT) - Posted his first two collegiate points with a goal and an assist as Holy Cross defeated Canisius, 3-2, on the road on Saturday. He assisted on Holy Cross’ first goal of the contest and then he scored a power play goal to give the Crusaders a 2-1 advantage.


Steve Cameron - Mercyhurst (Junior, Forward, Mission, BC) - Cameron scored two goals to help Mercyhurst pick up its first points of the season in a 1-0-1 weekend against Army. Both of his goals came in the third period of each game, including his second in Sunday’s game that stretched the lead to 3-1 after the Black Knight’s Eric Sefchick cut Lakers’ advantage to one. He now has three goals and four points on the season.


Ryan Zapolski - Mercyhurst (Junior, Goaltender, Erie, Pa.) - Zapolski earned his first win and a tie in the Lakers’ two- game set at Army this past weekend. The Erie, Pa., native recorded 31 stops in a 3-3 tie before stopping 32 in the team’s first win of the season, 4-1, on Sunday. He is now 1-4-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in league play.

Air Force: Air Force earned its first win of the season on Friday and broke a four-game losing streak, the longest since late in the 2006-07 season...AFA’s win on Saturday gave the Falcons its first ever AHA sweep of RIT...AFA extended its home consecutive regular-season sellout streak to 11 straight games dating back to last season...The streak is the longest in school history in any sport. Last night, 2,822 games packed the 2,470-seat Cadet Ice Arena. The streak ended on Saturday night...Air Force now leads the all-time series with RIT, 12-10-2. AFA???is 7-5-2 vs. RIT at home. Of the 22 non-ties in the series, 12 have been decided by one goal, four others???by two goals and eight???have gone into overtime...AFA???is now 3-1 in AHA home openers since joining the league for the 2006-07 season. AFA???now 6-2 all-time the first AHA???home series...Frank Serratore earned his 200th win at Air Force with Saturday night’s victory. He is in his 13th season with the Falcons and is the all-time winningest hockey coach at Air Force...AFA???has now won three straight over RIT dating back to last year...Freshman John Kruse had six points in the series with one goal and five assists...Kruse scored his first career goal on Saturday night...Freshman Kyle De Laurell and Kruse each had career-highs of three assists on Saturday...Air Force’s freshman line of De Laurell, Kruse and Danny Durham combined for one goal and six assists on Friday and had two goals and four assists on Saturday...Brad Sellers matched his career high with two points last night. He scored his first goal since his freshman year...Matt Fairchild has scored a goal in each of his last three games. He has six points in his last three games, including Saturday’s game-winner...Freshman Stephen Carew scored Air Force’s first short-handed goal of the season on Friday...Tim Kirby’s game-winner was the first of his career...Andrew Volkening’s 37 saves were a season high and the third most of his career...Air Force was outshot in both games by RIT...Air Force had 23 points in the RIT series and 14 came from freshmen...Air Force has been outscored in every period this season, except overtime...AFA has been outscored 9-3 in the first period this season...Air Force travels to Canisius, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1...Air Force lost 11 games all of last season, but two of those losses came against Cansius as the Golden Griffs swept Air Force at the Academy...Since Air Force joined the AHA in 2006-07, the Falcons are 4-4-2 vs. Canisius.

American International: The American International College men’s ice hockey team opened their season this past weekend. In their season opener on Friday night, the Yellow Jackets played well but fell 4-2 to Union. After falling down 2-0 in the first period, the AIC came out strong in the second period to tie the score at 2-2. Freshman Adam Pleskach (Beausejour, Man.) cut the Union lead to 2-1 when he found the back of the net, for the first time in his career, on the power-play, seven-minutes into the period. Sophomore Tom Mele (Bronx, N.Y.) and freshman Richard Leitner (Los Alamistos, Calif.) handed out the assists on the goal. Just over seven-minutes later, Leitner tied the score at 2-2 when he tallied the first goal of his collegiate career with an assist from Pleskach. Junior Dan Ramirez made 31 saves for the Yellow Jackets. In the weekend finale, AIC again played well but came up short losing 3-2 at RPI. The Engineers took a 2-0 advantage, before the Yellow Jackets started the comeback. In the 18th-minute of the second period, Pleskach buried a shot with assists from junior Tomas Benovic (Trencin, Slovakia) and senior Josh Froese (Winkler, Man.). The Yellow Jackets tied the game at 2-2 three-minutes into the third period as Pleskach recorded his second goal of the game, this time with an assist from Mele. Freshman Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) stopped 34 shots in his collegiate debut for AIC. Next up, the Yellow Jackets head to Sacred Heart on Tuesday to open Atlantic Hockey play at 7:05 p.m.

Army: The Black Knights moved to 0-4-1 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play following a tie and loss against Mercyhurst … Army held the Lakers scoreless on the power play on its first home weekend of the season and scored a power play goal … Army limited Mercyhurst to no goals in seven chances, including a 5-on-3 late in regulation, in a 3-3 overtime tie on Saturday and limited the Lakers to an 0-2 on Sunday … Cody Omilusik, Bryant Skarda and Danny Colvin scored goals for Army on Saturday while Jay Clark made 37 saves to preserve the tie … Eric Sefchik scored Army’s lone goal during a 4-1 loss on Sunday on the power play … Army has allowed six goals in 24 opponent power plays while scoring five times in 24 chances … Cody Omilusik continues to lead the team in scoring with six points on three goals and three assists … Mike Hull has two goals and two assists while Marcel Alvarez has three assists and a goal … Sefchik, Skarda and Owen Meyer all have three points … Freshman defenseman Cody Ikkala made his collegiate debut over the weekend … Army will continue its road-heavy early-season schedule with non-conferences games at Colgate (Friday, 7:30 p.m.) and RPI (Saturday, 7 p.m.) before returning to conference play at RIT the next weekend.

Bentley: Bentley defeated UConn 4-3 last Friday night for the Falcons’ first win of the season. The game was Bentley’s only of the week, and also its Atlantic Hockey and home-opener. It’s the fifth straight year Bentley has won its home-opener. The Falcons fell behind 2-0 in the second period to the Huskies, but goals by freshman Dan Koudys and junior Erik Peterson knotted the score at two heading into the third period. With the score tied at three, Koudys put the Falcons ahead for good with his second tally of the game with 5:01 to play. The goals were the first two of Koudys’ career. Peterson’s two goals gives him a team-leading three on the season, while freshman Joe Campanelli also had two assists in this game. Junior Joe Calvi got the start in net and made 17 saves for the win. Bentley hosts Mercyhurst for two games this weekend. The Falcons won the season series 2-1-1 last season, and the two teams spilt a series at Ryan Skating Arena last Feburary.

Canisius: The Griffs lost a pair of games to Holy Cross during the weekend, losing both games 3-2. Canisius is now 1-5-0 and 0-2-0 in Atlantic Hockey play. Canisius has now lost four–straight regular season games for the first time since Nov. 16 to Nov. 24, 2007, which included a pair of losses to No. 1 Miami. The Griffs have also started 0-2-0 in conference play for the first time since the 2005-06 season. The Griffs have struggled in the first period of play this season. During the weekend, the Crusaders scored five of their six goals in the first period, outscoring Canisius, 5-2. Through six games this season, Canisius has been outscored 11-2 in the first period and has yet to hold the lead after one period. The 11 goals allowed in the first are three more than the second and third periods combined. Juniors Cory Conacher and Vincent Scarsella lead the Griffs with four points this season, forming a dynamic connection on the ice. Scarsella has posted the primary assist on all three of Conacher’s goals, while Conacher posted the primary assist on Scarsella’s goal. Canisius remains home for a pair of Atlantic Hockey games against Air Force. The two teams will play at the Buffalo State Sports Arena on Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 3:05 p.m.

Connecticut: The Huskies went 0-2 last weekend playing in their first Atlantic Hockey game of the season at Bentley on Friday night. UConn was able to get out to a two-goal lead in the second period, but allowed Bentley to tie the game up before the end of the period. The Falcons went ahead in the third but UConn was able to tie it up at three-all before Dan Koudys netted the gamewinner late into the third period. AHA Rookie of the Week Sean Ambrosie recorded two power play goals in the loss. On Sunday, the Huskies wrapped up their weekend with a game at Hockey East opponent Merrimack. The Warriors scored two goals in the first period and never looked back to take the 4-1 game from UConn. The Huskies’ lone goal was scored by Justin Hernandez on a power play opportunity.

Holy Cross: Holy Cross swept the two-game series with Canisius to open the Atlantic Hockey season. This is the first time that the Crusaders have started the Atlantic Hockey season with a perfect 2-0-0 record since the 2005-2006 season when they started 3-0-0. The Crusaders remain undefeated in Atlantic Hockey season openers with a 6-0-1 record, including a 2-0-1 record versus Canisius as this was the third time that these teams have started the league season against each other. The Crusaders return to action when they play two games versus American International on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30-31. Holy Cross will play on the road on Friday and then play its first game at home this season on Saturday. Both games are set to start at 7:00 p.m. Last season, the Crusaders won the season series over the Yellow Jackets, 4-1-0. Holy Cross is 23-16-4 all-time in home openers. Both of sophomore Jay Silvia’s goals this season are game-winners as he scored the game-winning goal both times versus Canisius. His two game-winning goals are tied for first nationally. For his career, Silvia has 13 goals and 10 assists for 23 points. Freshman forward Erik Vos posted his first two collegiate points with a goal and an assist as Holy Cross defeated Canisius, 3-2, on the road on Saturday. Also against Canisius, sophomore Matt Gordon recorded her first two collegiate points with an assist in each game, while freshman Brendan Baker had his first collegiate point with an assist on Saturday and freshman Kyle Fletcher had his first collegiate point with an assist on Sunday. Freshman goalie Thomas Tysowsky earned his first two collegiate victories as Holy Cross won both road contests against Canisius, 3-2. For the weekend, he made 51 saves and allowed four goals for a .927 save percentage and a 2.01 goals against average. Junior co-captain Everett Sheen leads the team with three goals and four points. For his career, he has recorded 29 goals and 24 assists for 53 points.

Mercyhurst: Mercyhurst (1-4-1, 1-0-1 AHA) picked up its first points of the season with a 1-0-1 outing against Army this past weekend in West Point…The Lakers tied the Black Knights 3-3 on Saturday night before winning for the first time this season in a 4-1 victory on Sunday…Saturday’s result was the first-ever draw in the all-time series, which Mercyhurst leads 22-9-1…The 3-3 tie was also coach Gotkin’s 50th career draw, as he now stands at 385-256-50 in 22 seasons at Mercyhurst…Junior Steve Cameron led the offense with two goals, both of which came in the third periods…Junior Ryan Zapolski combined for 63 saves on the weekend, stopping 31 shots on Saturday and 32 on Sunday…He improves 1-4-1 overall and 1-0-1 in league play…The Lakers return to league action this weekend with a two-game series at Bentley…In 35 career meetings against the Falcons, the Lakers have won 23 times, lost seven and skated to five draws.

Rochester Institute of Technology: The Tigers were swept in an Atlantic Hockey Association weekend series for the first time since joining the league full-time in 2006. RIT was swept by Air Force, 5-4 on Friday and 3-2 in overtime on Saturday. RIT’s 0-5-0 start is the Tigers worst start since joining the AHA back in 2006-07. RIT got out to an early lead on Friday, but, allowed three straight second period goals. The Tigers rebounded to pull within a goal heading into the third period. Andrew Favot’s short-handed goal early in the third tied the game at 4-4 but the Falcons scored the game-winner with 1:45 to play in regulation to win 5-4. Saturday looked to be headed for a tie on Saturday, but the Tigers were snake-bit again, allowing the game-winner with time running out, losing 3-2 in overtime. RIT went 2-for-7 with the man advantage versus Air Force, scoring one power play goal in each of the weekend’s games. The Tigers penalty killers killed off five of seven Air Force power plays on the weekend. RIT out-shot the Falcons 41-38 on Friday and 30-26 on Saturday. It’s the first time RIT has out-shot the Falcons in a weekend series in Colorado Springs since 2006. RIT had six different goal scorers at Air Force. Andrew Favot, Mike Janda (Glen Ellyn, IL), Sean Murphy (Owatonna, MN) and Chris Haltigin (Oakville, ON) each scored on Friday. Cameron Burt (Detroit, MI) and Alan Mazur (Burnaby, BC) scored on Saturday. Favot had three points on the weekend. He had a goal in Friday night’s game, which tied the score at 4-4 and tallied two assists in Saturday’s game.

Sacred Heart: CJ Marottolo earns first career victory...SHU’s first ever win against Union, previously 0-2-0...First time since October 18-19, 2001 SHU has started season with two overtime games (Bemidji St. 1-1, 2-2)...Anthony Yelovich opened the scoring in the RPI game with his first career goal...Steven Legatto earned his first career win in net against Union.
