Kyle DeLaurell - Air Force (Freshman, Forward, Colorado
Springs, Colo.) - Three points as Air Force took three points from
Bentley...One goal and one assist on Friday...Scored the game-tying
goal on Saturday on the power play in the third period to tie the
game at 3-3 and that was how it ended...On Saturday, assisted on
the game-winner scored by Jacques Lamoureux...AFA’s top
scoring freshman, and third overall on the team, with nine points
(2-7-9) in nine games...The top scoring freshman in AHA games with
eight points in six games...Ninth in the nation in points per game
by a rookie with 1.00.
Jacques Lamoureux - Air Force (Junior, Forward, Grand Forks, N.D.)
- Four points with one goal and three assists as Air Force took
three points from Bentley...A career high three assists in
Friday’s 3-3 overtime tie as he assisted on all three
goals...Scored the game-winner on Saturday in the 3-0 victory. His
power play goal in the first period gave Air Force a 1-0 lead as
the Falcons never relinquished the lead...In AHA games, he is tied
for third in the league with four goals and tied for fifth with
eight points.
Andrew Volkening - Air Force (Senior, Goaltender, Genoa, Ill.) -
Led Air Force to three points vs. Bentley...1.44 GAA and a .942
saves percentage...22 saves on Friday in 3-3 overtime tie. Trailing
3-1 in the second period, he stopped all 10 shots he faced,
including a breakaway in the third period, to preserve the tie...On
Saturday, stopped all 27 shots for his first shutout of the season
and 12th of his career...Saturday’s game was the 100th of his
career...14 of the 27 saves came in the first period when Air Force
got outshot, 14-7...In AHA games, is second in the league with a
1.96 GAA and a .936 saves percentage.
Joey Spracklen - Army (Senior, Goaltender, Kennewick, Wash.) -
Spracklen made 33 saves, the second time in as many weeks that he
has posted at least 30 saves, in a 2-1 loss to RIT. Spracklen
turned away nine shots in the first period and 15 in the second as
the Black Knights built a 1-0 lead against the Tigers.
Brett Hartung - Bentley (Freshman, Forward, Tallahassee, Fla.) -
Hartung scored his first career goal against Air Force on Friday
night. His goal in the first period was the first of three
unanswered for Bentley and tied the score after Air Force scored an
early goal.
Justin Kemmerer - Bentley (Senior, Defenseman, Hershey, Pa.) -
Scored his first goal of the season in Friday’s tie at Air
Force. His second period goal gave Bentley a 3-1 lead. Was a +1 for
the series.
Cory Conacher - Canisius (Junior, Forward, Burlington, Ontario) -
Conacher led the Griffs to their first-ever sweep of Mercyhurst
during the weekend, posting a team-best four points on a goal and
three assists. Conacher, who registered multiple points during both
games, recorded two assists in the opener before coming back with a
goal and an assist in the finale. His score in Saturday’s 4-3
victory came on a penalty shot with just 5:36 remaining for his
second game-winning goal of the season.
Josh Heidinger - Canisius (Senior, Forward, Buffalo, N.Y.) -
Heidinger led the Griffs with three goals during a weekend sweep of
Mercyhurst, the first for Canisius in the program’s history.
Heidinger scored the opening goal in both games, helping give the
Griffs the early advantage, which Canisius has struggled to do
during the 2009-10 campaign. Heidinger also sealed the
Griffs’ 6-4 victory on Friday with an empty-net goal with 23
seconds remaining. Heidinger was also big in the face-off circle
during the two contests, winning a team-best 24 draws during the
weekend.
Alex Gerke - Connecticut (Freshman, Defenseman, Tomah, Wisc.) -
Gerke notched two goals over the course of the weekend, one of them
of the power play type. Gerke recorded the first goal of his career
on Friday night to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead late in the first
period. He broke free in game two and tallied his second goal of
the weekend, this time a power play goal. Gerke is the first UConn
defender to score two goals this season and is one of only three
Huskies to have more than one goal on the season.
Matt Turner - Connecticut (Junior, Forward, Colorado Springs,
Colo.) - Turner recorded a goal and an assist on the weekend for
the Huskies. He finished the weekend with just three shots on goal,
scoring on one of them for an amazing .333 shot percentage.
Turner’s assist came in game one for the Huskies on Jeff
Sapieha’s game-winner against AIC. He recorded his goal in
the very last seconds of the third period of game two on an open
netter to seal the Huskies 4-1 victory and complete the sweep over
AIC. One of the more penalized Huskies, Turner recorded no penalty
minutes this weekend.
Rob Linsmayer - Holy Cross (Freshman, Forward, Winnetka, Ill.) -
Linsmayer posted four assists on the weekend as he recorded two
assists on Friday as Holy Cross defeated the Pioneers by a score of
4-2, while he also had two assists on Saturday as the Crusaders
fell to Pioneers, 5-4. For the season, his six assists are tied for
first on the team and his six points are third.
Steve Cameron - Mercyhurst (Junior, Forward, Mission, British
Columbia) - Cameron scored three goals as the Lakers dropped a
home-and-home series to Canisius this past weekend. Cameron scored
his first in a 6-4 setback Friday night at the Mercyhurst Ice
Center. On Saturday in Buffalo, he added a pair of goals, including
a game-tying score that made it a 3-3 game early in the third
period.
Scott Knowles - R.I.T. (Sophomore, Forward, Riverside, Ontario) -
Knowles scored two goals and added two assists in a 2-0 week for
the Tigers. He scored a career-high two goals and added an assist
in RIT’s 6-1 win over Army on Friday. The following night,
Knowles assisted on Dan Ringwald’s tying goal in the third
period of RIT’s 2-1 win. He now has four points in seven
games this season.
Patrick Knowlton - Sacred Heart (Junior, Forward, Colorado
Springs, Colo.) - Scored two goals and two assists in weekend
series with Holy Cross...Had an assist on a David Berube power play
goal that evened the series opener at one in the first period...Lit
the lamp for the Pioneers final goal Friday night, found the net
after gathering a loose rebound from an Alex Stuart shot from the
point...Scored the Pioneers first goal in Saturday’s 5-4
victory over Holy Cross 3:01 into the first period on a 2-1
opportunity with linemate Matt Gingera...Assisted another Berube
power play goal late in the second period to tie the game at
three.
Steven Legatto - Sacred Heart (Freshman, Goaltender, Kelowna,
British Columbia) - Tallied 67 saves in two starts against Holy
Cross over the weekend...Made 30 saves Friday night, including 15
in the second period to hold off the Crusaders and keep the
Pioneers in the game...Stopped 37 total shots in the 5-4 win over
Holy Cross Saturday night...Turned away 17 shots and made several
fantastic glove saves in the first period that would allow Sacred
Heart to recover from a slow start...Made 10 saves each night
against the Holy Cross power play unit that converted just once in
eight tries through the weekend.

Air Force: Air Force stayed in first place in the AHA with nine
points by taking three points from Bentley...After an 0-4 start,
Air Force is 4-1-1 in the last six games...AFA is 4-5-1
overall...AFA was 3-10 on the power play vs. Bentley while killing
all nine Bentley power plays in the series...Jacques Lamoureux had
four points in the series, including a career high three assists on
Friday and the game winner on Saturday...Freshman Kyle De Laurell
had three points in the series, including the game-tying goal on
Friday and assisting on the game-winner on Saturday...Andrew
Volkening played his 100th career game, fourth most in school
history, on Saturday...First shutout of the season, and 12th of his

American International: The Yellow Jackets went 0-2-0 this weekend
in there series with Connecticut bringing their record to 1-5-1
overall and to 1-3-1 in the AHA. In the first game of the weekend,
AIC lost 3-1. Freshman Adam Pleskach tallied his team leading sixth
goal of the season, unassisted, while classmate Ben Meisner stopped
27 shots in his third career start. In the weekend finale, the
Huskies completed the sweep with a 4-1 win. Senior Mike McMillan
found the back of the net for AIC with assists from junior Mike
Little and senior Josh Froese. Junior Jake Anderson made 23 saves
in his first career start for the Yellow Jackets. Next up, AIC
takes on Army in a home-and-home series beginning on Friday at 7:05
p.m. in West Point, N.Y.
Army: The Black Knights fell to 1-6-2 overall and 0-3-1 in
conference games with a pair of losses at RIT. RIT won the opener
6-1 and then secured the sweep with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory.
Owen Meyer scored his second goal in as many games with a power
play goal on Friday … Meyer now has 53 career goals (he
scored twice vs. Ryerson) and is within one goal of tying Alexandre
Parent of Sacred Heart and Matt Pierce of Mercyhurst for
ninth-place on the AHA all-time scoring records … Cody
Omilusik scored a short-handed goal for Army on Saturday. Omilusik
scored during an RIT 5-on-3 for Army’s third short-handed
goal of the season … Senior Joe Spracklen made 33 saves in
Saturday’s loss, the second time in his last two starts that
he has posted at least 30 saves … Army limited RIT to one
goal in 10 power play chances over the weekend … Cody
Omilusik continues to lead the team in scoring with five goals and
five assists … Eric Sefchik picked up his fifth assist on
Omilusik’s short-handed goal on Saturday … Marcel
Alvarez and Meyer each have six points on two goals and four
assists … Army will return home and play at Tate Rink on
Friday for the first time since Oct. 25. Army will host AIC on
Friday and then travel to West Springfield, Mass., Saturday to
conclude the home-and-home series.
Bentley: Bentley earned one point out of its series at Air Force.
The Falcons tied Air Force 3-3 in the first game on Friday night,
then dropped a 3-0 decision on Saturday night. The tie was
Bentley’s best result at Air Force since a 4-4 tie on Feb. 1,
2008. After Air Force jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, Bentley
scored three unanswered goals into the second period. Freshman
Brett Hartung scored his first career goal to tie the game in the
first period, then Erik Peterson gave Bentley a 2-1 lead five
minutes later with his team leading fourth goal of the year. In the
second period, senior Justin Kemmerer scored his first goal of the
season to give the Falcons a 3-1 lead. Air Force however scored the
final two goals of the game to force the tie. Junior goalie Joe
Calvi continued his strong start to the season with 29 saves.
He’s unbeaten in his last three starts and is 2-1-1 on the
year with a 2.71 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.
In Saturday’s game, Bentley could not generate any offense
and were shutout for just the second time in 79 games dating back
to the 2007-08 season. Sophomore goalie Kyle Rank bounced back
after a rough game against Mercyhurst and made 26 saves while just
allowing two goals. Bentley returns home this weekend for a series
against Sacred Heart, the first of two straight home series for
Bentley. Sacred Heart’s visit will be their first to
Watertown in more than 23 months. In two games last year in
Connecticut, the teams spilt a two-game series.
Canisius: Canisius swept a weekend series with rival Mercyhurst
during the weekend, winning the opener on the road, 6-4, and the
finale at home, 4-3. The sweep over the Lakers was the first for
Canisius in the rivalry’s 21-year, 60-game history. Canisius
also won consecutive games against Mercyhurst for the first time
since the program’s were in Division III on Dec. 2, 1995 and
Jan. 19, 1996. The Griffs have played the Lakers more than any
other school in the school’s history. Canisius also won for
the second time in three tries at Mercyhurst after going winless in
its previous 10 contests at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. The Griffs
jumped to early leads in both contests en route to the victories.
Canisius entered the weekend having scored three goals in the first
period during the first eight games of the season. However, the
Griffs totaled five first-period goals during the series (three on
Friday and two on Saturday) to get off to the strong starts.
Canisius is now 0-4-0 on the season when leading or tied after the
first period and 0-6-0 when trailing after the opening stanza.
Senior Josh Heidinger scored the game’s opening goals in both
contests to give the Griffs the early advantage. Heidinger, who
also sealed the Griffs’ victory on Friday with an empty-net
goal, tallied his first three goals of the season and has
accumulated 98 points during his career, just two points shy of
becoming the fourth Griff in the program’s Division I history
to record 100 career points. Junior Cory Conacher led the Griffs
with four points during the weekend, posting multiple-points games
in both contests. Conacher recorded two assists in the opener and
then followed with a goal and an assist in the finale. The junior
broke a 3-3 tie on Saturday with just 5:36 remaining in the game,
scoring on a penalty shot for his second game-winner of the season.
He is the first Griff to attempt and make a penalty shot since Dave
Kostuch scored against Air Force on Jan. 16, 2009. Conacher is tied
for the team lead with 10 points this season, recording a Canisius
best five goals and five assists. Canisius returns to action next
weekend with a pair of home games against Connecticut. Last season,
the Griffs won 3-of-4 games against the Huskies with three of the
games being decided in overtime.
Connecticut: The Huskies were undefeated on the weekend sweeping
American International and garnering their first points of the
season in their first home games of the season. UConn defeated AIC
3-1 on Friday and 4-1 on Saturday to earn their first weekend sweep
since they did it against Army in their home weekend openers last
season. Six different Huskies scored a goal on the weekend as five
of them recorded their first goal of the season in the games
against AIC. Freshman Alex Gerke (Tomah, Wisc.) recorded a goal in
each game while junior Matt Miller (Bayonne, N.J.) and freshman
Sean Ambrosie (Moorhead, Minn.) each had multi-point games on the
weekend. In game one, Gerke started things off for the Huskies
getting them on the board first at 17:36 in the first period.
Junior Jeff Sapieha (Calgary, Alberta) added to the lead in the
second scoring the ultimate gamewinner, but Bentey cut that lead in
half before the end of the period. At the very end of the game,
with the Bentley goalie pulled, junior Andrew Olson slapped a laser
shot into the open net to seal the 3-1 victory for the Huskies. On
Saturday, it was another freshman, Jim Gallagher (Marquette, Mich.)
who got the Huskies out to a 1-0 lead. Bentley tied the game up
before the end of the first period, but in the second after a
5-minute major hitting from behind call, the Huskies tacked on two
power play goals to earn a 3-1 lead. Sophomore Marcello Ranallo
(Burnaby, B.C.) recorded UConn’s second goal of the night,
and the gamewinner, while Gerke tacked on the third. AIC pulled
their goalie once again in the final minute of play and senior
captain Michael Coppola (Old Brookville, N.Y.) stole the puck on a
breakaway. The Yellow Jackets were able to stop Coppola but couldnt
stop junior Matt Turner (Colorado Springs, Colo.) scooped up the
loose puck and sealed the victory for the Huskies. The Huskies are
back in action next weekend in Buffalo, N.Y. when they take on the
Canisius Griffs. The weekend series is a little skewed as the two
teams will meet on Saturday and Sunday at 3:05 p.m.
Holy Cross: The Crusaders will play Air Force on Friday and
Saturday, Nov. 13-14 at the HartCenter. Last season, the Falcons
swept the season-series from the Crusaders, 4-0. Junior Jordan Cyr
leads the team with five goals and 11 points, while he is tied for
first with six assists. Over the last three games, he has recorded
four goals and four assists for eight points. The Crusaders are
0-1-1 at home so far this season. Last season Holy Cross went 7-8-2
at the HartCenter. Holy Cross has a 294-184-29 (.608) all-time
record at the HartCenter since it started playing there in
1975-1976. On Friday, freshman Evan Zych made his collegiate debut.
On Saturday, freshman Brendan Baker scored his first collegiate
goal. Junior Mark Znutas has recorded one assist three straight
games and has four assists for the season which are tied for third
on the team. Freshman Rob Linsmayer is tied for the team-lead with
six assists and he is third with six points. He has four assists
over the weekend. Junior Everett Sheen is second on the team with
four goals and eight points. Holy Cross will host the 2010 NCAA
Men’s Hockey Division I Northeast Regional. The dates are
Saturday and Sunday, March 27-28 at the DCUCenter in Worcester. The
semifinals will be at 1:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on March. 27, while
the finals will be at 5:30 p.m. on March 28. All three games will
be on ESPNU. Holy Cross held the event for the first time two years
ago.
Mercyhurst: Mercyhurst suffered its first Atlantic Hockey sweep of
the season this past weekend with a pair of losses to
Canisius…The Lakers fell by a score of 6-4 on Friday night
in Erie, before dropping a 4-3 decision Saturday night in
Buffalo…Junior Steve Cameron led the team with three goals,
improving his league-leading total to seven …Junior Brandon
Coccimiglio added assists in both games to extend his team-leading
point streak to seven games… Coccimiglio has scored four
goals and totaled 10 points during that stretch…Freshman
Grant Blakey also extended his point-streak to four games with
three helpers in the series…Sophomore Max Strang made his
second-career start on Saturday, stopping 29 shots and allowing
four goals…Mercyhurst resumes league play this weekend with
a two-game set against RIT at the Mercyhurst Ice Center…Last
season, the Tigers won the regular-season series, 2-0, but were
handed a 5-4 OT loss in the AHA semifinals on Chris Risi’s
game-winner…Mercyhurst trails in the all-time series,
13-23-4.
Rochester Institute of Technology: RIT has now won four straight
games, after sweeping Army, 6-1 and 2-1 this weekend at Ritter
Arena. On Friday, Scott Knowles, Cameron Burt, and Sean Murphy
tallied three points apiece. On Saturday, RIT rallied from a 1-0
third period deficit with two goals in the final 11 minutes. Andrew
Favot scored the game-winner with 2:46 left. Goaltender Jared
DeMichiel was named the first star on Saturday. He stopped 47-of-49
shots on the weekend. DeMichiel has allowed just four goals in his
last four games, loweing his goals against average to 2.49 this
season. The Tigers have won six straight games at home dating back
to last season. The Tigers have scored 21 goals in four home games
this season (5.25 per game). RIT has allowed just four goals in the
last four games. The have outscored foes 21-4 during the winning
streak. RIT has allowed four shorthanded goals in nine games lthis
season after allowing three in 38 contests last season. RIT has
out-shot its opponents in eight of the nine games this season.
Andrew Favot, Cameron Burt, and Dan Ringwald are all riding
seven-game point scoring streaks. Ringwald, who had 10 career goals
in her first 110 games, now has five goals in his last three
contests. He needs one point to become the second Tiger to record
100 points at the DI level. Ringwald is also tied for first
nationally among all defensemen with five goals. RIT defensemen
have 15 of the team’s 33 goals this season. Favot and
Ringwald are tied for the conference lead in scoring. RIT leads the
AHA in goals per game and goals allowed per game in conference
play. The Tigers have just 92 penalty minutes in nine games this
season (10.1 per game), seventh lowest in the nation. The Tigers
had its streak of games with a power-play goal snapped at six on
Saturday. RIT travels to Mercyhurst this weekend for a pair of
games against the Lakers. Mercyhurst ended RIT’s season in
2008-09, with a 5-4 overtime victory in the AHA semifinals at Blue
Cross Arena. The Lakers come in with a 2-7-1 record and are 2-3-1
in conference play. RIT is 23-13-4 all-time against the Lakers. RIT
went 2-1 against Mercyhurst last season, with all three games being
played in Rochester. The Tigers are 7-4-1 against Mercyhurst since
moving to Division I in 2005.
Sacred Heart: Sacred Heart leads Atlatnic Hockey and is fifth in
the NCAA in scoring offense, averaging 3.86 goals per game...Sacred
Heart has had to rebounded in the second game of a weekend series
three times this season (W, RPI 6-5 (OT), T, 3-3, St. Lawrence, and
W, Holy Cross, 5-4)...The Pioneers have had tough outings in each
series opening game this season (Union, 4-3 (OT), St. Lawrence,
6-3, and Holy Cross, 4-2)...Senior Paul Ferraro has scored a point
in four consecutive games and now ranks second in Atlatnic Hockey
for points per game for defenseman with eight points in seven
games...Sacred Heart is now 3-3-0 in their last six games at the
Hart Center in Worcester, MA...Freshman Reid MacLeod redirected a
Feraro shot into the net to score his first collegiate goal
Saturday night and give SHU a 4-3 lead early in the third period.
