Andrew Favot - R.I.T.

Junior, Forward, King City, Ontario

Favot had a hand on all five RIT goals over the weekend, with a goal and four assists to lead the Tigers to 2-1 and 3-2 wins over Mercyhurst. On Friday, Favot assisted on both of Alan Mazur’s power-play goals in the 2-1 win. On Saturday, Favot tied the game at 1 with a goal late in the second period. He had the primary assist on Chris Saracino’s third period goal that gave RIT a 2-1 lead, then assisted on Adam Hartley’s game-winning goal later in the period. Favot is riding a nine-game point-scoring streak (4-13-17), and leads all AHA players with four goals and 13 assists for 17 points. He has 15 points (4-11-15) in eight AHA games.

Senior, Goaltender, Genoa, Ill.

Posted a 0.96 GAA and a .966 saves percentage in leading Air Force to three points at Holy Cross...Shutout the Crusaders with 29 saves on Friday in 1-0 victory for his second consecutive shutout and the 13th of his career, a school record...Allowed two goals in a 2-2 overtime tie on Saturday...Prior to Holy Cross’ goal in the second period on Saturday, he had 183 consecutive shutout minutes, the second most of his career. He had a school record 262 consecutive shutout minutes last season...In conference games this season, ranks second in the league with a 1.70 GAA and a .943 saves percentage.

Ben Meisner - American International

Freshman, Goaltender, Halifax, Nova Scotia

Made 35 saves to propel AIC to a 2-0 shutout against Army Saturday Night. In the same game he also claimed the first point of his collegiate career assisting on classmate Adam Pleskach’s game-winning shorthanded goal. The shutout was his second in his four starts this season. Meisner has started both of the Yellow Jackets home games this year, recording shutouts in both.

Matt Fairchild - Air Force (Senior, Forward, Ashburn, Va.) - Two goals to lead Air Force to three points in the series at Holy Cross...Scored the game-winning goal in the third period on Friday in the 1-0 win...On Saturday, his goal in the third period tied the game at 1-1 on the power play as Air Force and Holy Cross skated to a 2-2 overtime tie...Led the team with seven shots on goal.

Adam Pleskach - American International (Freshman, Forward, Beausejour, Manitoba) - Tallied a goal and an assist in the Yellow Jackets 2-0 shutout over Army on Saturday night. Pleskach buried, what would prove to be the game-winning goal, shorthanded in the first period. The goal was the team’s third shorty of the season and his team leading seventh overall. He then assisted on AIC’s power-play goal in the second period.

Joe Calvi - Bentley (Junior, Goaltender, New Lenox, Ill.) - Calvi made a career-high 44 saves in Bentley’s 6-3 win over Sacred Heart last Friday night. The win was his third of the season and he is now unbeaten in his last four starts (3-0-1). Calvi’s goals against average is now 2.77 on the season and his save percentage is .911.
Herbie Kent - Bentley (Sophomore, Forward, Amesbury, Mass.) - Kent had four assists on the weekend, including a career-high three in last Friday night’s win over Sacred Heart. Two of his assists in that game came on the power play. He also had the primary assist on Bentley’s lone goal in Saturday’s game.

Marc Menzione - Bentley (Senior, Forward, Darien, Ill.) - Menzione had two goals, one on the power play, the other shorthanded, in the Falcons’ 6-3 win over Sacred Heart last Friday night. His power play goal in the second period gave Bentley a 3-1 lead, then his second goal gave his team a two-goal, 5-3 lead 8:35 into the third period. Menzione has a team leading six goals and nine points on the season.

Dave Kostuch - Canisius (Sophomore, Forward, Richmond Hill, Ontario) - Kostuch scored two goals during the weekend, helping the Griffs earn three points against the Huskies. With the Griffs trailing 3-2 in the opener, Kostuch scored his fourth goal of the season just 57 seconds after Connecticut took the lead. He then netted the only goal in the Griffs’ 1-0 victory on Sunday, scoring with 15:56 left in the game.

Dan Morrison - Canisius (Sophomore, Goaltender, London, Ontario) - Morrison posted his second shutout of the season on Sunday, both coming in tight 1-0 victories. In the win over Connecticut, Morrison stopped all 19 shots he faced, including seven while a man down. In Saturday’s tie, the sophomore recorded 20 saves, including 13 in the third and overtime periods, to help preserve the draw.

Sean Ambrosie - Connecticut (Freshman, Forward, Moorhead, Minn.) - Ambrosie recorded two points on the weekend for the second-straight weekend. Both points came on assists. The first assist for Ambrosie was on Jason Krispel’s game tying goal to tie the score at two-apiece. He got his second assist on the eventual game-tying goal at the very end of the third period on Brendan Olinyk’s goal that forced an overtime period and helped the Huskies on their three game undefeated streak. Ambrosie brought the offense this weekend taking six shots including a game high five in Sunday’s match.

Jason Krispel - Connecticut (Junior, Forward, Cypress, Calif.) - Krispel recorded two points on the weekend, both coming in game one of the two-game series with Canisius. Krispel scored the first game-tying goal for the Huskies in the beginning of the third period that knotted the game at two-all. On the next goal, Krispel helped the Huskies to the go ahead power play goal at 11:50 in the third, before Canisius tied the game up. The goal was the first of the season for Krispel and the assist was his third of the year. He recorded five shots on the weekend for a .200 shot percentage.

Thomas Tysowsky - Holy Cross (Freshman, Goaltender, Amherst, N.Y.) - Tysowsky was outstanding as he only allowed three goals in two games versus Air Force. He stopped 49 of 52 shots for a .942 save percentage and posted a 1.46 goals against average. On Friday, he made 29 saves and allowed one goal as Holy Cross lost 1-0, while on Saturday he made 20 saves and allowed two goals as the two teams tied 2-2. For the season, he is 3-4-2 as he has made nine straight starts. Tysowsky has a 2.31 goals against average and .913 save percentage.

Adam Hartley - RIT (Freshman, Forward, West Vancouver, British Columbia) - Hartley scored the game-winning goal with 12:26 left in the third period, breaking a 2-2 tie and lifting the Tigers to a 3-2 win over Mercyhurst on Saturday. Hartley redirected Alan Mazur’s shot from the point in for his second goal of the season, and first on the power-play. He has two goals and two assists this season.

Jared DeMichiel - RIT (Senior, Goaltender, Avon, Conn.) - DeMichiel continued his remarkable play, stopping 49-of-52 shots to help the Tigers Mercyhurst, 2-1 and 3-2. On Friday, DeMichiel made 26 saves, including 12 in the third period and was named the game’s second star in the 2-1 win. On Saturdau, he stopped 23 shots in a 3-2 win. DeMichiel is 6-5-0 with a 2.31 goals against average and .913 save percentage this season. He has a 1.90 goals against average and .928 save percentage in conference play. DeMichiel has allowed just seven goals and has a .952 save percentage over the last six games, all RIT wins.

Olivier St. Onge - Sacred Heart (Junior, Goaltender, Wickham, Quebec) - Made 29 saves in only start of the weekend, Saturday night’s 1-1 draw with Bentley…Stopped a Falcons break away in the last two minutes of the third period to send the game into overtime… Entered Friday night’s game in relief making nine saves on 11 shots…Now posts a 2.23 goals against average in Atlantic Hockey play.

Air Force: AFA is 3-0-2 in the last five and 5-1-2 in AHA play...Air Force killed all 10 HC power plays in the series and has now killed 22 straight opponent power plays...AFA only scored three goals in the series, one even strength, one power play and one short-handed...Matt Fairchild scored two of the three goals, including the game winner on Friday...Jeff Hajner had an assist on Saturday, his 100th career point...Andrew Volkening recorded his 13th career shutout on Friday and extended his consecutive shutout streak to 183 consecutive minutes, the second most of his career...The 13 career shutouts are a school record...Air Force scored all three goals in the series in the third period...AFA is 4-1-1 when scoring the first goal and 1-4-1 when allowing the first goal...AFA continues its four-game road swing with a two-game series at UConn...AFA and UConn have played 15 times and the Falcons hold an 11-3-1 lead in the series...AFA is 2-2-1 all-time at UConn...The teams have played six times as AHA opponents and AFA holds a 3-2-1 lead in the series...Last season, AFA took three points at UConn with a 2-2 overtime tie and a 4-3 win in Storrs.

American International: The Yellow Jackets went 1-1-0 this weekend in their home-and-home with Army, losing the first game 2-1, and tallying a 2-0 shutout in the finale. AIC remains perfect at home yet to allow a goal at the Olympia Ice Center. AIC’s record moved to 2-6-2 overall and to 2-4-1 in the AHA. In Friday’s loss, after a scoreless first period, senior forward Josh Froese put AIC on top 1-0 when he netted a short-handed goal, 2:19 into the second period. Junior forward Greg Vatrano and sophomore defensemen Rob Blanchette dished out the assists on the goal. The lead lasted until the 14th-minute, when junior Cody Omilusik found the back of the net on the power-play, tying the score at 1-1. Sophomores Mike Hull and Marcel Alvarez handed out the assists. In the third period, Hull buried what would prove to be the game-winning goal with just over four-minutes remaining in the game. Omilusik and senior Owen Meyer dished out the assists on the goal. Junior netminder Dan Ramirez stopped 30 shots in a solid outing for AIC. In Saturday’s shutout, the Yellow Jackets got on the board first when freshman Adam Pleskach netted the teams third short-handed goal of the season, his team leading seventh overall, 3:05 into the opening period of play with assists from sophomore forward Nielsson Arcibal and freshman goaltender Ben Meisner. Junior Tom Mele extended the Yellow Jacket lead to 2-0 when he buried a power-play goal at 2:51 of the second period. Pleskach and freshman Richard Leitner dished out the assists on the goal. Meisner stopped 35 shots to claim his second shutout in four starts this season. Next up, AIC plays host to Canisius for two games beginning of Friday at 7:05 pm. at the Olympia Ice Center.

Army: The Black Knights moved to 2-7-2 overall and 1-4-1 in conference play with a split of a home-and-home series with American International … Army won Friday’s opener 2-1 at Tate Rink while AIC posted a 2-0 win Saturday in Springfield, Mass. … Cody Omilusik and Mike Hull both had multiple point games during Friday’s win ... Omilusik scored on the power play and then assisted on Hull’s game-winner as Army fought back from a 1-0 deficit … Marcel Alvarez and Owen Meyer also collected assists … It marked Omilusik’s third multiple point game this season and 13th of his career … It was Hull’s third career multiple point game and first of the season … Saturday was the first time Army has been shut out this season … The last time Army failed to score a goal was at Mercyhurst on March 14 in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs … Army is now 8-55 on the power play and has scored three short-handed goals … Omilusik continues to lead the team in scoring with team highs in goals (six), assists (six) and points (12) … Alvarez, Meyer and Eric Sefchik all have five assists while Hull and Bryant Skarda each have three goals … Army will play a pair of games at Bentley this weekend. Games in Waltham, Mass., are set for 7:05 both Friday and Saturday.

Bentley: Bentley took three points out of its home weekend series with Sacred Heart. The Falcons scored a season-high six goals in Friday’s 6-3 win, then the two teams settled for a 1-1 tie in the series finale on Saturday night. In Friday’s game, Bentley’s power play erupted for four goals, two by senior Brendan Harrison and one each by senior Marc Menzione and sophomore Aaron Stonacek for his first of the season. Menzione also scored Bentley’s first shorthanded goal of the year in the third period which gave the Falcons a 5-3 lead after Sacred Heart had rallied from 4-1 down. Sophomore Herbie Kent had a career-high three assists, while senior Bobby Preece and freshman Dan Koudys had two assists. Junior goalie Joe Calvi continued his strong play in this game. He made a career-high 44 saves and picked up his third win of the season. Calvi is unbeaten in his last four starts (3-0-1). In Saturday’s game, both teams could only muster one goal as the game ended in a tie. Freshman Joe Campanelli scored for Bentley in the second period for his second goal of the season. The Falcons will host Army this weekend, marking the Black Knights’ first visit to Ryan Skating Arena since the 2007-08 season.

Canisius: Canisius took 3-of-4 points against Connecticut during a weekend home series, tying the Huskies in the opener, 4-4, before taking the finale, 1-0. Canisius is now 4-3-1 in Atlantic Hockey play and jumped to third place in the league standings. Canisius is now unbeaten in its last four games (3-0-1), its longest streak since the 2007-08 season when the Griffs went without a loss in five-consecutive games (2-0-3). Sophomore Dan Morrison anchored the Griffs’ defense during the weekend. He posted his third career shutout and second of the season in the finale, leading Canisius to a 1-0 victory. It was the second time that the sophomore has helped lead Canisius to a 1-0 win this season. He also stopped 48 shots in a 1-0 victory over Ferris State. Morrison’s other shutout during his career was also against Connecticut last season. The one total goal matched the program’s record for fewest scored in a game. Canisius, who has never skated to a 0-0 draw, has played in seven 1-0 games. Sophomore Dave Kostuch scored the lone goal for the Griffs on Sunday, netting his fifth goal of the season against the Huskies. Kostuch, who also scored on Saturday, has scored all five of his goals in the last five games after going scoreless in his first five games of the season. Senior Josh Heidinger posted the primary assist on Kostuch’s game-winning goal. Heidinger has now totaled 99 career points and 70 career assists. He is one point shy of becoming in the fourth Griff in the program’s Division I history to reach the 100-point plateau. He is also just one assist shy of matching the program’s career record for assists. David Deeves registered 71 assists from 1998 to 2002. First period play once again remained important for the Griffs during the weekend. Canisius is now 0-6-1 when trailing after the first period and a perfect 5-0-0 when leading or tied heading into the first intermission. Canisius returns to the ice next weekend, playing at AIC. Last season, the Griffs won all four meetings with the Yellow Jackets. The season sweep marked the first time that Canisius defeated a team four times in a season since 1998 campaign.

Connecticut: The Huskies came away from the past weekend with an 0-1-1 record eking out a 4-4 tie with Canisius in the final minutes on Saturday and falling to the Griffs 1-0 on Sunday. Nine different Huskies recorded points in Saturday afternoon’s game, with junior Jason Krispel (Cypress, Calif.) and freshman Sean Ambrosie (Moorhead, Minn.) each tallied two points in the game. For the second game in a row, Ambrosie recorded a multi-point game, both of the double assist variety. With their points on Saturday, freshman defender Alex Gerke (Tomah, Wisc.) and junior assistant captain Andrew Olson (Alexandria, Minn.) recorded a point in three-straight games and five out of the last six games. On Sunday, neither team was able to score until the third period when the Griffs put the only goal of the game on the board at 4:04 in the third period to finish with a 1-0 victory. The Huskies are back in action next weekend when they take on 2008 AHA co-champion Air Force at home in their final home series of the fall season. The two teams will meet Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21 at 7:05 p.m.

Holy Cross: On Saturday against Air Force, freshman Brandon Nunn scored his first collegiate goal. Freshman goalie Thomas Tysowsky allowed three goals in two games versus Air Force. He stopped 49 of 52 shots for a .942 save percentage and posted a 1.46 goals against average. For the season, he is 3-4-2 as he has made nine straight starts. Tysowsky has a 2.31 goals against average and .913 save percentage. The Crusaders return to action Friday-Saturday, Nov. 20-21, when they travel to Erie, Pa. to take on Mercyhurst. The Crusaders are 3-3-0 on the road so far this season. Junior Jordan Cyr leads the team with five goals and 11 points, while he is second with six assists. The Crusaders are 0-2-2 at home so far this season. Last season Holy Cross went 7-8-2 at the HartCenter. Holy Cross has a 294-185-30 (.607) all-time record at the HartCenter since it started playing there in 1975-1976. Freshman Rob Linsmayer has posted five assists over the last four games. He leads the team with seven assists and he is third with seven points. Junior Everett Sheen is second on the team with eight points, while he is tied for second with four goals. Holy Cross will host the 2010 NCAA Men’s Hockey Division I Northeast Regional. The dates are Saturday and Sunday, March 27-28 at the DCUCenter in Worcester. The semifinals will be at 1:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on March. 27, while the finals will be at 5:30 p.m. on March 28. All three games will be on ESPNU. Holy Cross held the event for the first time two years ago.

Mercyhurst: The Mercyhurst College men’s hockey team saw its losing streak hit four games this past weekend as RIT swept the Lakers in a two-game series at the Mercyhurst Ice Center…The Tigers defeated the Lakers by the scores of 2-1 and 3-2, extending Mercyhurst’s streak of one-goal setbacks to three games while pushing their unbeaten streak over the Lakers in Erie to six games (5-0-1)…Senior Cody Collins led the Lakers with a goal in each game, marking the first time since last February (2/27-28/09; Canisius) that he scored in both games of a series…Junior Ryan Zapolski suffered both losses with 24 saves in Friday’s game and a season-high 40 stops on Saturday…Mercyhurst now trails RIT 13-25-4 in the all-time series dating back to 1988…The Lakers stay home this weekend as Holy Cross pays a visit to the Mercyhurst Ice Center on Friday, Nov. 20 at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 21 at 4:05 p.m….Mercyhurst split a two-game set against the Crusaders last season, winning the first game by a score of 4-3 in overtime for its first win of the season. Holy Cross came back the next night to prevail by the same score in overtime…The Lakers lead the all-time series 19-10-4.

Rochester Institute of Technology: RIT has now won six straight games, after sweeping Mercyhurst, 2-1 and 3-2 last weekend at Mercyhurst Ice Center. The two wins were RIT’s first on the road this season. RIT has a six-game unbeaten streak (5-0-1) at the Mercyhurst Ice Center dating back to Feb. 5, 2006. The six-game winning streak is the second longest by RIT at the Division I level. Last season, RIT won 11 straight games. On Friday, defenseman Alan Mazur scored two power-play goals to propel RIT to the 2-1 win over Mercyhurst. Mazur is tied for second among all skaters nationally with five power-play goals. Senior defenseman Dan Ringwald recorded his 100th career point on Mazur’s second goal. He became the second Tiger at the Division I level (Simon Lambert) to reach that milestone. Mazur and Ringwald are 1-2 in the nation in goals by a defenseman (Mazur, 6, Ringwald, 5). On Saturday, freshman Adam Hartley scored to break a 2-2 tie with 12:26 left in regulation and lift RIT to a 3-2 win. Freshman defenseman Chris Saracino scored his first collegiate goal and added an assist. Junior forward Andrew Favot had a hand on all five RIT goals over the weekend, with a goal and four assists. He is now riding a nine-game point-scoring streak, with four goals and 13 assists during that time. He is first in scoring in AHA play, and tied for second nationally. Goaltender Jared DeMichiel stopped 49-of-52 shots on the weekend. DeMichiel has allowed just seven goals in his last six games, lowering his goals against average to 2.31 this season. During that span, DeMichiel has a 1.19 goals against average and .952 save percentage. The seven goals allowed in the last six games are the fewest allowed by RIT over a six-game span since moving to Division I and fewest overall since the 2001-02 season. RIT has outscored its foes 27-7 during the six-game winning streak. RIT defensemen have 18 of the team’s 38 goals this season. Favot and Ringwald are tied for the conference lead in scoring. RIT leads the AHA in goals per game and goals allowed per game in conference play. The Tigers have won six straight games at home dating back to last season. The Tigers have scored 21 goals in four home games this season (5.25 per game). RIT returns home to play a pair of games against Sacred Heart. Friday’s game begins at 7:05 p.m., while Saturday’s is a special 4:05 p.m. start. Sacred Heart snapped RIT’s 11-game winning streak at last season, also at Ritter Arena. RIT leads the all-time series between the two schools, 5-3-1. Sacred Heart went 2-1-1 against RIT last season.

Sacred Heart: The Pioneers earned one point in a weekend series in Watertown, MA against Bentley…Sacred Heart’s 1-1 draw Saturday night keeps them unbeaten on Saturday’s with a 2-0-2 record…The Pioneers have not yet won a series opening game in 2009-10…Patrick Knowlton scored SHU’s first goal Friday night to extend his goal scoring streak to three straight games, that string was broken the following night’s 1-1 tie…Nick Johnson scored his seventh goal of the season Saturday night to tie him for the league lead, Johnson ranks second on the AHA power play goal list with four this season… Dave Jarman chipped in a pair of assists over the weekend to bring his point total to 12, tied for second in Atlantic Hockey…The Pioneers rank second in the conference and tied for 13th in the nation scoring 3.44 goals per game, one-hundredth of a point behind RIT…Sacred Heart travels to Rochester next weekend for a two game set with the Tigers.
