
Former Crusader Patrick Rissmiller Named AHL All-Star

WORCESTER, Mass. – Former Holy Cross hockey player and
current Grand Rapids Griffins’ forward Patrick Rissmiller
will participate in the 2010 AHL All-Star Classic at the Cumberland
County Civic Center in Portland, Maine on Jan. 19 as a member of
the PlanetUSA All-Star Team. This is the second time that he has
earned an AHL All-Star selection as he did it in 2006 as a member
of the Cleveland Barons.
He is tied for the team lead with 24 points, while he leads the
Griffins with 15 assists and is third with nine goals. Grand Rapids
is the affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings.
Rissmiller has played for the San Jose Sharks and the New York
Rangers. In 180 NHL games with the San Jose Sharks, he had 18 goals
and 27 assists for 45 points. After being recalled from Cleveland
on March 15, 2006, Rissmiller went onto tally five goals and four
assists in 29 games, including two goals and an assist in the
playoffs. Rissmiller scored the first goal of the game in San
Jose’s 5-4 win over Nashville in Game Four of the Western
Conference Quarterfinals as the Sharks went on to win the series,
4-1. In 2007-2008, he recorded eight goals and nine assists for 17
points in 79 games. In the 2006-2007 season, Rissmiller scored
seven goals and had 15 assists for a career-best 22 points. He has
played in 30 career NHL playoff games with three goals and four
assists for seven points.
For the 2008-2009 season, he played for the AHL’s Hartford
Wolf Pack as he had 14 goals and 40 assists for 54 points. He
played for the AHL’s Cleveland Barons for four seasons as he
left the team as its all-time points leader and all-time assists
leader, while he was second in goals. In the 2005-2006 season
before he was recalled to San Jose, he was second on the team in
points with 52 as he posted 15 goals and a team-leading 37
assists.
As a four-year Crusader (1998-02), Rissmiller recorded 53 goals and
90 assists for 143 points in 131 games. He graduated on the top of
the school’s Division I career records lists with his 143
points and 90 assists. He is currently second on those lists for
points and assists, while he is tied for fourth in goals. Also when
he graduated he held the Holy Cross Division I career record for
power play goals with 20. As a freshman he was a member of Holy
Cross’ 1999 MAAC championship team as he set the
school’s Division I single-season record for assists with 28.
In his senior season, Rissmiller led the Crusaders in assists (30)
and points (46) as he was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the
Year and earned first team All-MAAC honors. His 30 assists that
season broke his own school record and is still the all-time
Division I single-season record at Holy Cross, while his 46 points
was the record at the time and is tied for third currently.
