Daly Named to First Team Captial One Academic All-District Team

Junior men’s ice hockey player Mike Daly (South Burlington, Vt.) was a first team selection to the 2010-2011 Capital One Academic All-District I at-large teams, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.  The teams are comprised of players from Division I schools in the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. The team includes student-athletes from the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

Daly played in all 38 games for the men’s ice hockey team on defense, finishing the season with three goals and 15 assists for 18 points. He helped lead the team to an overall record of 17-16-5, a third-place finish in the Atlantic Hockey Association at 14-8-5, and a trip to the Atlantic Hockey semifinals. Daly won the 2010-2011 Joe Tomasello Unsung Hero Award from the New England Hockey Writers and is a two-time member of the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic team. Over the course of his collegiate career, he has now totaled 38 point on eight goals and 30 assists. Off the ice, Daly owns a 3.83 cumulative grade point average with a major in economics.
