Atlantic Hockey Player of the Month

 

Cory Conacher - Canisius

Senior, Forward, Burlington, Ontario

Conacher led the Canisius offense during the season’s opening month, recording 10 points, six goals and four assists. He currently ranks first in Atlantic Hockey in both points and goals.  The reigning Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year picked up right where he left off last season, netting his second career hat trick in the opener at Western Michigan. Conacher also added an assist for four points in the team’s 5-3 victory over the CCHA foe.  Conacher also recorded two more multi-point games during the month to help the Griffs to their best start in the program’s history. He netted two goals against Sacred Heart, a series in which Canisius took three points and won in Milford for the first time since 2004. He then recorded a point and an assist in a 4-0 victory.

Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Month

 

Dan Morrison - Canisius 

Junior, Goaltender, London, Ontario

Morrison anchored the Canisius defense during the month of October, posting a 4-2-1 record, 1.97 goals against average and .947 save percentage. Morrison also averaged 35.7 saves per game and currently leads all of Division I with 250 saves on the season.  During the month, Morrison recorded at least 30 saves in six contests. He recorded his fifth-career shutout in a 4-0 victory over Army, stopping 32 shots in the contest. Morrison also had a career-high 51 save performance against Western Michigan in the season’s second game and a 37-save game, which included 12 stops during a five-minute power play in a 1-1 game, against Sacred Heart.  He posted a 1.29 goals against average and .966 save percentage in the second period and a 0.86 goals against average and .976 save percentage in the third.  Morrison finished the month ranked first in Atlantic Hockey in both save percentage and goals against average. He also places fifth nationally in save percentage and 12th in goals against average.

Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Month

 

Kyle Gibbons - Canisius

Freshman, Forward, Westlake, Ohio

Gibbons started his career strong, posting eight points, five goals and three assists during his first month of collegiate hockey. Gibbons leads all Atlantic Hockey freshmen in points and ranks eighth nationally among rookies in points per game (1.14). He is also one of just two freshmen in the country to net two game-winning goals.  In a 5-2 win over Mercyhurst, Gibbons tallied the first two goals of his career and added an assist for three points. In his next game, Gibbons recorded two third-period points (1g, 1a) to break a 1-1 tie and lead the Griffs to victory at Sacred Heart. He wrapped up the month with his second three-point, two-goal performance in a 4-0 victory against Army.
