TREVOR LEWIS
Robert Morris

Sr. | F | Lititz, Pa.

Key Statistics: Lewis made a great impression from the start. He was named the Colonials’ rookie of the year as a freshman, ranking sixth on the team with 17 points, including seven goals. A year later he inched up to 21 points, ranking fourth on the squad, and boosted his assists to 16. For his junior year, Lewis ranked third on the team with 10 goals and sixth in points with 17. He posted three two-goal efforts (AIC, Bentley, Mercyhurst).

What He Does: Lewis is not a pure goal scorer but he skates very well and his tremendous speed creates many chances. Lewis has a pass-first, shoot-second mentality, although Robert Morris coach Derek Schooley would like Lewis to be a bit more selfish in his final collegiate season. At 5-foot-11, Lewis has never had a problem with physical play and his offseason workouts have added weight to his former 175-pound frame—Schooley is excited to see if the “extra meat” will add some strength to Lewis’ shot.

The Bigger Picture: Schooley likes Lewis’ versatility, using him on the power play, the penalty kill, and late-game situations. Still, Lewis has been overshadowed by two very talented classes ahead of him and now Schooley said it’s time for Lewis to enjoy a breakout season. Lewis normally plays the right wing but Schooley may move him around a bit as an experiment as the coach tries to mix and match new line combinations. Lewis is very popular with his teammates, making him a perfect choice to be captain this season.

RMU coach Derek Schooley on Lewis: “I really believe now is the time for him to step up and take his point total higher. I am looking for him to take the next step and be one of the team leaders.”
