Key Statistics: Stockton ranked seventh among Atlantic Hockey rookies with 25 points. He had two power play tallies and two game-winners among his nine goals. Stockton arrived in Worcester, Mass., after three very productive seasons in Ontario’s Central Junior Hockey League with the Brockville Braves. He had 26 goals and 54 points in 2007-08, 34 goals and 82 points in 2008-09, and 37 goals and 98 points in 2009-10.

What He Does: Stockton has plenty of offensive gifts but is not afraid to pick up his defensive responsibilities. He’s intelligent and sees the ice very well. He’s not known for a big slap shot, but he does have a quick release. He’s very good with the puck and tremendous at the faceoff dot. Defensemen had better respect Stockton on the rush because he’s deceptively fast for his size. Stockton is not a big talker but his teammates listen to him and respect him. He will start the season with right-winger Adam Schmidt and a new linemate on the left side now that Everett Sheen has graduated.

The Bigger Picture: A terrific first season usually bodes well for the future. Holy Cross coach Paul Pearl believes Stockton is on the cusp of becoming an Atlantic Hockey all-star. A future in the pros is not out of the question, Pearl says, as long as he continues to put in the work and develop his game.
