PAUL WEISGARBER
Air Force
Sr. | LW | Fargo, N.D.

Key Statistics: Weisgarber enjoyed his most productive season as a junior, doubling his point totals from each of his first two seasons. He ranked second on the team in goals (13) and sixth in points (25). He had three power-play goals and one short-handed tally. He’s up to 25 goals and 49 points through three seasons.

What He Does: Air Force coach Frank Serratore calls Weisgarber “a classic overachiever’’ and a player who has gotten the most out of his abilities. He shoots the puck when he has a good opportunity and has shown some touch around the net. He’s hardly flashy and gets a lot of work done with a willingness to battle in the corners and be tough in front of the net.

The Bigger Picture: Last season Weisgarber played alongside a pair of freshmen, center George Michalke and right winger Casey Kleisinger, so it would not be surprising to see the trio back together again. Serratore said as long as there is a critical portion of the game, Weisgarber will be on call. Weisgarber is not a big talker but when he does, his teammates listen.

Air Force coach Frank Serratore on Weisgarber: “He’s probably one of our most respected players we’ve ever had in our locker room—that’s saying a lot because you are talking about a service academy. He’s a wonderful human being. He’s a great student and great kid. He’s the gentleman. He’s the kind of young man that every mother hopes their son grows up to be like.”
