Mercyhurst Will Face Boston College In NCAA Tournament Friday

Mercyhurst, the 2005 Atlantic Hockey Association Tournament Champion, will take on Boston College of the Hockey East Association on Friday, March 25 at 4:30 p.m. in the first round of the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass.

The Lakers, at 18-15-4, won the second annual Atlantic Hockey Championship Saturday night with a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory over top seed Quinnipiac in Northford, Conn. The Lakers are making their third NCAA Tournament appearance in the last five years, after participating in the 2001 and 2003 Tournaments. Mercyhurst fell to Minnesota in its last appearance, 9-2 in Minneapolis.

The Eagles, at 25-6-7, won the Hockey East Championship on Saturday, March 19, in a 3-1 win over New Hampshire at the FleetCenter in Boston, Mass. One of four teams to reach the Frozen Four last season, Boston College won the 2001 NCAA Championship over North Dakota.
