Black Knights will make their second appearance on television Feb. 22

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The YES Network will televise Army's Atlantic Hockey Association tilt against Holy Cross on Sunday, Feb. 22 live. It will be the second time this season that the Black Knights have appeared on television and the first time that the three-year-old station will broadcast an Army hockey game.

The Black Knights faceoff against division-leading Holy Cross at 4 p.m. at Tate Rink. Army appeared on College Sports Television (CSTV) as part of its "Friday Night Game of the Week" on Jan. 16 against Air Force. The Black Knights downed their service academy rival, 4-3, in that encounter.

Calling the play-by-play for Sunday's game will be Spero Dedes. The 2001 inaugural recipient of the Marty Glickman Award is the voice of the YES Network's collegiate sports coverage. Handling color analyst duties will be former New Jersey Devils forward Ken Daneyko. The 1999-2000 Bill Masterton Award winner, presented to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey, was a 19-year veteran in the NHL and a member of three Stanley Cup Championship squads before his retirement at the end of last season. Leslie Boghosian will be rink side for the game. Boghosian is one of the original on-air personalities hired by the YES Network. She spent six years at ESPN before joining YES in 2002.

"I think this will be good for the program and good for (Atlantic Hockey)," Army head coach Rob Riley said. "It is an opportunity for exposure and that is always positive. The Air Force game provided good national exposure and this game should generate some local support."

It will be just the fourth time since the early 1990s that Army has appeared on television. In addition to the CSTV broadcast, the Black Knights were on the airwaves Feb. 28, 1999 in Colorado Springs, Colo., where they skated to a 2-2 tie opposite Air Force on the now-defunct Military Channel. The only other TV game was Feb. 23, 1996 at UMass-Lowell when a local station aired the River Hawks' victory over the Cadets.

The YES Network launched on March 19, 2002 as a 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week premier sports and entertainment television network featuring the 26-time World Champion New York Yankees Major League Baseball team. The YES Network is available to viewers in New York, Connecticut, and parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

In addition to 130 Yankees games, YES also broadcasts other professional and collegiate sports teams, including the two-time defending Eastern Conference Champion New Jersey Nets National Basketball Association team, as well as classic sports footage. The YES Network also televised Army's men's basketball season opener in November against Columbia.

YES is the place to be for first-round and quarterfinal-round action of the 2004 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament.
