WALTHAM, Mass. --- Six members of the Bentley College hockey team and head coach Ryan Soderquist skated in a scrimmage as part of a community service activity Wednesday afternoon against the Watertown Middle School team at the John A. Ryan Arena.

Co-captains Joe Lovell (Norwood/Norwood HS), Paul Markarian (Quincy/Quincy HS), sophomore's Geordan Murphy (Matawan, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) and Kevin Osborne (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Hebron Academy), junior Seth Vinocur (Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City HS) and freshman John Hooks (Browns Mills, N.J./Pemberton Township HS) represented the Falcons who scrimmaged head coach Steve Russo's middle school Red Raiders.

The scrimmage lasted for about an hour and featured high-scoring end-to-end action. Watertown captain Kenny Segreve potted three goals against the Falcons. "It was a lot of fun," said the thirteen year old Segreve, "It was really good for those guys to come down and help us out."

Watertown head coach Steve Russo was very appreciative of Soderquist and his players. "I just want to thank Ryan and his players," said Russo after officiating the action, "it was a real treat for our kids to play against some Division I hockey players, and it was good for Bentley to remember what hockey was like at that age."

Markarian, Bentley's second-leading scorer this season, enjoyed the scrimmage and even tallied some goals against his goalie, Murphy. "We were all in their position," said Markarian, "and for me being from Quincy (Mass.) it's nice to give back to the younger guys."

Bentley and the Watertown Middle School team have practiced together several other times and Bentley has been involved in other community service projects this year. Several players have officiated youth games and sophomore Ryan Lessnau (Southfield, Mich./Seaholm HS) is involved in the After School Program in Waltham, where he tutors young students.
