AIC's Win Streak Comes to End Versus Canisius

The American International College men's Ice Hockey team saw their two-game winning streak come to an end this evening as they dropped a 5-2 decision to Canisius College in an Atlantic Hockey contest.
Canisius picks up their second win in conference improving to 2-4-2 and 2-7-5 overall, while the Yellow Jackets dip to 2-10-1 overall and 2-4-1 in league.
The Griffs jumped on the board early in the opening period as freshman Joey Coccimiglio (Sault Ste Marie, Ont.) netted a his first of two goals on the contest just 2:41 into the game. However, AIC's C.J. McConnell (Sault Ste Marie, Ont.) evened the score with a power-play tally just 1:08 later. It was McConnell's fifth straight game with a goal and sixth straight game recording at least one point.
Canisius responded with two quick goals, both off of rebounds, to give the visitors a 3-1 advantage after the first 20 minutes.
The visitor's increased the lead to three as Andrew Dawe (Kitchener, Ont.) batted in a rebound over the shoulder of AIC goalie Chad Davis (Allen Park, MI) off an initial shot by J. Coccimiglio who picked up his third point of the contest. Daryl Pierce (Brampton, Ont.) also was credited with an assist.
The Yellow Jackets added the pressure pulling within a pair again scoring 59-seconds later when senior Guillaume Caron (Saint Nicolas, Que.) wristed a shot past Bryan Worosz (Brandtford, Ont.) leaving him just 11 points shy of 100 for his career.
The Griffs added a late goal in the third period as David Kasch (Sault Ste Marie, Ont.) netted a power-play tally at the 10:01 mark to finalize the scoring on the night.
Worosz finished with 19 saves picking up the win, while Davis turned away 29 in defeat.
