The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead in the game with two goals in the first period. Alexandre Parent scored their first with assists from Pierre-Luc O'Brien and Bear Trapp at the 7:29 mark. They followed less than a minute later with their second goal, scored by on a power play opportunity by Trapp. The Huskies were unable to convert on two power play opportunities in the stanza and remained down 2-0 until :31 into the second period.
At :31 into the period UConn's Scott McDougall (Mansfield, Mass.) scored his third goal of the season on a power play from the left side of the goal to slip it past Smith and tally Connecticut's first goal. He was assisted on the play by junior Cole Koidahl (Minneapolis, Minn.) and freshman Chris Myhro (Eden Prairie, Minn.).
Just over five minutes later the Huskies set off the lights and buzzers again with a goal by sophomore Charles Solberg (Barrington, Ill.), his first of the season. Solberg found the back of the net from the the left circle with an assist from John Stockler (Princeton, Minn.).
The game-winner came just over a minute later with Crum taking assists from Myhro and senior captain Chris Uber (Ithaca, N.Y.) and slipping the puck past Smith to capture the win.
The Huskies are back in action in the Toyota UConn Hockey Classic on Dec. 29 and 30. They will be hosting Bowling Green, UMass and Army.
